The Hee Haw Sessions – Sat 14th June 2008 – Santiago, Leeds.
Blind River Scare + The Random Family + Ali Whitton
Having moved to London a couple of years ago to expand his musical career, Ali Whitton made his return to Leeds to open the show. Ali has a great reputation from his time based in Leeds and it was nice to have him back in his hometown.
Next up was The Random Family, a small collective of multi-instrumentalists based in Liverpool who combine acoustic guitars, mandolin, banjo, ukulele, double bass, flute and clarinet, alongside stunning 3 and 4 part harmonies to create an acoustic folk sound which is simultaneously traditional and contemporary. They had been recommended to me by a friend and they did not disappoint. They were amazing!
And finally to wrap up the show was Blind River Scare. They finished the night on a high note with their Americana-tinged, original bitter sweet songs. Based in Newport, they were very Welsh and they were very very nice!
