Food4Music 2008, 4th Annual Christmas A Success! Benefiting the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan
NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEFLINT, MI – January 2, 2009 – Food4Music 2008 – On Saturday, December 27th, Vancouver-based Food4Music Events held its 4th annual benefit show at The Machine Shop featuring the return of local acts Girl Scout Hand Grenade, Givensix, Nothing Is Sacred, Fernando’s Xcursion and Skarrd. The show was a complete success. Over $1,040 in proceeds was donated plus fans brought out more than 264 pounds in food donations.
Food4Music’s very first appearance was an all-ages show took place in October of 2002 in Vancouver, BC. Thus far, over $13,640 in cash proceeds plus more than 2,000 pounds of food have been donated to local food banks, all the while showcasing some of the city’s finest Independent local artists.
Since its first appearance in MI, USA in 2005, Food4Music fans have donated over $3,561.50 in proceeds plus over 800 pounds of food. With the Food Bank's amazing $1 = $14 leveraging ability, this truly equates to OVER $50,000 worth of food for those in need. There are solid plans in place with Food4Music determined to reach those less fortunate and make huge impacts on the many diverse communities across Canada and the United States.
Food4music would like to give a special thanks to The Machine Shop for allowing the use of their venue free of charge, Girl Scout Hand Grenade for their continued support and help with planning and coordination efforts and Mark Hadley of Studio Hadley, www.studiohadley.com, for donating his artwork for use in promotional materials.
The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan distributes food to the hungry in 22 counties of Michigan through nearly 400 partner agencies. In 2008, the Food Bank distributed over 18.0 million pounds of food to those in need, with agencies reporting anywhere from a 15-40% increase in clients.
