SAVAGE FAMILY
Coming from Lummi WA , Savage from the root words Salvaticus and salvage meaning "of the woods." HGS Higher Ground Struggle is a collective movement of Indigenous Mc’s/Lyricists and producers along with the many who have helped to establish the concepts and beliefs that drive our music. SAVAGE FAMILY / HGS are spread throughout the United Snakes primarily based out of the Northwest and the Midwest regions. We are the people, the unwanted, the ignored, the marginalized and the forgotten. . We do not assume that one is any better than another and have come to the realization that as long as our communities are un healthy, we cannot consider ourselves to be health individuals regardless of what we have been able to achieve or accomplish. Until all are free, we are all imprisoned and we have committed ourselves to leave no one behind in our struggle for truth and recognition of our purpose to exist as human and spirit. The basis of the movement is to utilize traditional and contemporary wisdom of our Indigenous peoples for the means of empowerment. The lyrics represent a voice of Indigenous revolution for social change in communities that are plagued by the social ills created through colonization and genocide. SAVAGE FAMILY / HGS was not founded or established by one person or a particular group of people, instead the foundation of the SAVAGE FAMILY THEORIES OF (r) EVOLUTION movement is in our Indigenous brothers and sisters worldwide and the ideologies that have driven our peoples since time immemorial. The movement has embraced the art of lyricism and spoken word to be a useful means of spreading messages of hope, pride, and empowerment into our communities. WARRIORS ARE BORN, SOLDIERS ARE MADE. "You can cut the flowers, but you cannot stop the spring from coming." "ONE DOES NOT WAIT FOR ALL CONDITIONS TO BE RIGHT TO START THE REVOLUTION, THE FORCES OF THE REVOLUTION ITSELF WILL MAKE THE CONDITIONS RIGHT."

CODY THE CATCH
Calgary Artist "Cody The Catch" Has definitely made his mark on the Western Canadian hip hop scene over the years. Starting to perform live and record in his home town Calgary at the young age of 15, he delivered constant live shows and real hip hop material to go with it. He began his still uprising career with the unreleased classic "The Saga Begins" on "Maintain One Voice Entertainment" in 2004/2005, and continued with disks such as "The Melodic" (2006), "After Hours" (2007), and most recently what people call an underground classic "Over The Influence" (2008), produced by Cuzin Rhay using just a steel mic and a four track recorder and featuring Moka Only, Snak The Ripper, Young Sin, Evil & More... Catch has travelled, toured and performed on stages across the country with the likes of "Swollen Members", "RA The Rugged Man", "Sadat X", "Diamond D", "Sean Price", "Buckshot", "Maestro", "Choclair", "Moka Only","Chino XL" & More... Now the young MC is ready to take business to the next level. After delaying the highly anticipated album "Fresh & Faded" for four straight years he has set the project aside and is re-cooking up the album everyone has been waiting years for. "Death To Bubble Gum" A full length solo album from Catch (AKA ASUSUAL). The album digs deep into what the hip hop game is right now and puts a real light on his life. The album is completely produced by local Vancouver producers "Step Necessary & Makemdef" who have been compared to greats like DJ Premier & 9th Wonder. The rhyme schemes and lyrical skill along with the quality of beats displayed in this debut album is as Cody says "Unfuckwitable" and hip hop listeners will be re assured that this art is still very alive. The project also features New York City's own "Termanology", who has appeared on albums in 2008 with "Kanye West", "Mobb Deep", "Nas" & more, it will also feature Canadian artists "Jay Kin", "Jeff Spec", "Moka Only", "Emotionz", "Edge", "Snak" & More... "Death To Bubble Gum" is set to release early 2009 on "Local Talent Records"... PICK IT UP ONLINE or in a store near you.
