My concern for our enviorment and how it affects our society has been steadily gaining ground within my morale compass. My decision to buy a bicycle and grow my own produce this past year I know are direct results of what I wouldn't say is a new awareness, but a new found conviction to live a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle. This video of Copenhagen traffic is a great example of a society that is moving towards a more sustainable world. If you caught Obama's historical DNC speech(more on that in another entry), you know one of his platforms is energy reform. The truth is, oil has reached its peek production and prices will continue to rise indefinitely. Part of the solution is changing the way we live our lives and bike riding is a sustainable alternative.

I recently read a great book on how energy relates to our enviorment, politics, over population and society; "Plan B 2.0".

I highly suggest this book for a sobering look at our "real" situation which mainstream media all but ignores the dire straits we are actually in and why I advocate riding a bike as often as possible. I know the reality is that some of us still need a car including myself. But most trips are made within a few miles of our homes which can easily be replaced with a short bike ride. If many of us did this we could considerably dent the amount of CO2 we put in the atmosphere. I believe within the next 10 years, the way we live our lives will and must drastically change.

Cool - This is my hood. We can be thankful that the people who are running the city are socialists who's promoting biking and taking the environment into consideration. However on a national level, the environment threats aren't being taken too seriously by politicians and civilians like it should be.
