No blogs for a while so I thought I'd treat you to a 'things which are good' chat.
First up, and most importantly one feels, the Retreat Festival.
This is the first year of Retreat, a festival put together by Bart from Spitfires faves Eagleowl, a veritable bevvy of great acts appeared, I really wish I could've gone to more. However, watching Meursault close the festival in emphatic fashion with a cover of I'm So Excited by the Pointer Sisters was something truly special. By all accounts every show was a roaring success and all involved be applauded for doing something during the Edinburgh festival that was unlikely to involve tourists, comedians or bagpipes.
Other things enjoyed this month:
David O'Doherty - commedian who won the If. comedy award, I could tell why. Absolutely brilliant.
This American Life - awesome podcast from Chicago Radio Hero - Ira Glass. Every single person on the planet should listen to it every week without fail.
Click here to subscribe.Planet Earth - when David Attenborough makes a documentary this recently, you know it's going to be unmissable (Notable scenes thus far: A Great White Shark leaping out of the water to catch a seal in it's mouth mid air, a pride of lions taking down an Elephant, birds of paradise with incredible plumage and mating dances, David Attenborough's amazing facts and statistics about absolutely everything).
Musicwise, current listening:
Weezer - Pinkerton (possibly the greatest album ever)
Maps & Atlases
Ratatat
The Back to the Future Soundtrack
Madonna (specifically the songs Borderline, Lucky Star and Over and Over)
See you soon, I'm off on tour with Jonquil for most of next month so have fun.
