April 15th Sac State Day of Silence

What are you going to do to end the Silence?

The National Day of
Silence brings attention to anti-LGBT name-calling, bullying and
harassment in schools. Each year the event has grown, now with hundreds
of thousands of students coming together to encourage schools and
classmates to address the problem of anti-LGBT behavior.

To
honor this, the PRIDE Center is asking Sacramento State Students, Staff
and Faculty to Wear Red in a show of support for those who have been
victimized!

We will be breaking the silence with a POTLUCK during the QSA Meeting at 6pm! Bring a dish and join us!

April 27th Gay Power? Historical and Modern Perspectives on the Gay Rights Movement

The PRIDE Center, in collaboration with the Women’s Resource Center, is
proud to present a lecture concerning the gay rights movement. This
event is free and is open to all students, staff, faculty, and the
public.

In the wake of Proposition 8, many people are
wondering what the future of the gay rights movement will be. In this
lecture, Professor DiSarro places Proposition 8 and the nationwide
battle over same-sex marriage into historical context. By examining the
history of the gay rights movement, the present state of gay rights in
the United States, and the prospects for progress under the Obama
administration, Professor Di Sarro provides us with a past, present, and
future context for viewing the outcome of Proposition 8.
