Trev Gibb - Nervous EP (Released in limited number on mini cdr in Jan 2008)

On first listen I wanted to hate this, but as time wore on, and as I gave the title track a few more chances than I normally grace a demo with, I realised that it is actually bloody fantastic.

The opening number, Isn't It Enough To Make You Nervous, is the best of the bunch, but apart from the God awful cover of Dancing In The Dark, the standard is pretty damned good across all four tracks. Piano, quiet guitar and clever lyrics are the order of the day here, and the low-key backing is the perfect foil for Gibb's refined sense of irony and his scathing wit.

Gibb is clearly hung up on love - won, lost, betrayed, unrequited... it's all here. Playing heavily on the 'I'm dead sensitive me, like' card, this is music that will appeal to the hopeless romantic in everyone, and with the added cynicism which he brings to the table, Trev Gibb is sure to appeal to both the loved up and the loved out.
