Over the weekend I tried watching the latest film about the Zodiac Killer.
It was directed by the guy who did Seven, so I figured it would be pretty good.. It was actually kind of boring (and if you've seen the film, and want to compare it to the real facts, check
this page out). In fact, I fell asleep half way through it. YES, THE ZODIAC KILLER IS *THAT* EXCITING.
One thing about the film that did impress me tho, was how they de-mystified the killer.
From his name and logo being stolen from a wristwatch company to his cyphers being lifted from basic level books any junior high student would find in the library. Hell, even his costume is silly.
I mean, look at him.
He's wearing a box with black felt or something over it. With clip on sunglasses ON THE OUTSIDE.
The felt (or whatever) hangs down a bit, so that he can put his wristwatch logo on the front.. The whole thing, I assume, is supposed to represent some kind of Executioner's Hood or something along those lines.. (Actually, it makes me think of the
Holy Vehm for some reason)

See the little cross hairs logo on the watch? See the name of the company on the watch?
For some reason that really takes the whole mystique down a notch, doesn't it ;) OooOooo! THE TIMEX MAN IS COMING! OH NOES!
Anyway. SO - Yeah - I tried watching this movie over the weekend and ended up sleeping through it.. But it did manage to rekindle my interest in serial killers, so
I've been checking out various online resources of serial killer data.
Like the Crime Library.
While checking through the serial killer database at CrimeZZZ.net I found a reference to "a sinister Satanic cult alleged to practice human sacrifice in several parts of California, luring youthful members from college campuses throughout the western half of the United States."
Turns out this group, which calls itself the "Four Pi" or "Four P Movement" has something to do with animal sacrifice (as well as human) - especially big on dog killing. But what's really odd is they're also associated with the Process Church.
The Process Church is a very strange group. The Skinny Puppy/Gen-P crossover album (titled what else, "The Process") has a few songs which praise the Process church (as does Gen's other band, Psychic TV), and this is where things get weird.. Because Skinny Puppy have always been very anti animal abuse (hence the name - and songs like Testure which describe the horror of vivisection;
"the tiny face terrified
rant and rave - smash your head against the cage
vacuum clicks on high
conscious of the pain - pass off as humane
white coat seems so clean
most dirt bleached out of greed
force the point of habit
eyes burn in a rabbit "
..etc. you get the idea..
I don't know enough about the Process to have any kind of opinion beyond the most subjective observations such as "Gee, the founder of the Process Church sure looks like an intense weirdo".
Kind of like a Scary Jesus.
Or, "Say, didn't the nazis use an iron cross like that?" or "Golly, their serpent -on-a-cross thing looks a lot like a variant on the Skinny Puppy logo (or an old Suicidal Tendencies logo for that matter)
Just surface level observations..
Interestingly, there are quite a few pro-process sites - which I assume aren't all run by fans of Psychic TV, Skinny Puppy or some other pop /anti-pop groups. Hell, they even have their own Yahoo Group.
I've found some old sites on geocities that seem to be recruitment pages for the Process Church - complete with stock photos of the members in their weird space-age-hippy cult gowns (not unlike the radiation-burned, bomb-worshiping religious fanatics who live Beneath The Planet of the Apes).
For those of you following along, the Process is also mentioned in your handy dandy guide to Apocalypse Culture (volume 1).
Point being, they've been on the radar of the Fringe for a long time now..
Today is going slow - so I'm going to digest as much of these guys as I can. I'm really curious to find out why Skinny Puppy would ally themselves with a group of alleged Animal Abusers whose roots began in a Scientology audit session.
I'm also curious about this page over at TheDogPress.COM which goes into lots of frantic detail about the Process and their newest permutation, "Best Friends", which DP claims is some kind of front for the Process Church.. They mention here that some vital piece of Best Friends history has been altered or.. something.. that the evidence is here: http://www.bestfriends.org/aboutus/oldhistory/intro.htm
However, going there brings you to a 411 - Page Not Found error.. ALTHOUGH the page still exists thanks to the WAYBACK machine, and can be viewed in it's entirety here: http://web.archive.org/web/20051125152803/http://www.bestfriends.org/aboutus/oldhistory/intro.htm
Finding info on the Best Friends spin off of the Process (with regards to them mentioning the Process or other kooky stuff) is even harder than finding genuine Process documents -Tho the skepticaltheurgist has a bit of a rant against them, and I did find this interesting page in support of BF over at the Animal Liberation Front (denouncing allegations of them being a Cult)
*GASP!* COULD THE ALF BE INVOLVED AS WELL??! And why is a disciple of Crowley (the main page at the skepticaltheurgist blog explains, "The Skeptical Theurgist accepts the central tenet of the Book of the Law,"Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law".) involved with a Dog Show Review site (The Dog Press) which bashes a dog-show industry magazine (Best Friends) which is associated with the Process Church who are affiliated with the Four P Movement WHICH ARE DOCUMENTED ANIMAL ABUSERS?
WHEELS WITHIN WHEELS!
LOL - even the Misfits and DANZIG are involved:
AND I SWEAR TO GOD - I had *NO* Idea I'd be able to trace this all back to my Holy Vehm comment at the start of this article. Eris indeed works in strange and fucked up ways.
23 Skiddoo!
(From the Danzig Trivia page):
4p The symbols on the cover of the album were taken from the alphabet of a secret tribunal group from Medieval Germany called the Vehmgericht. They spell out the word "Danzig." In an interview on Twec.Com on 01/27/2000, Glenn referred to them as "Zehmic runes." The entire alphabet is illustrated in Nigel Pennick's "Magical Alphabets" book, published by Samuel Wesier, Inc in 1992. The following information on the album title was supplied by American Recordings in 1994:
"The Four P movement is an alleged Satanic cult operating throughout the United States. An offshoot of the notorious Process Church of the Final Judgment, the Four P movement takes its name from the Process' original sigil: a swastika like form composed of four interlocking Ps. The Four P movement was supposedly begun in 1967, and has been connected to a number of ritual killings across the country, including the Son of Sam killings in New York and the Manson Family in California."
