My company is celebrating Earth Day today.
Ah, Earth Day...a day where people can come together and pretend to care about our dwindling natural resources, plants, and animals. It's a day where we can drive our SUV's down to the local park, a half mile away, and spend time "communing" with nature. It's a day where our government can make promises about a green future, twenty or thirty years down the road, but will probably change with the next administration.
Don't get me wrong, there are people out there who really care about what's going on. However, the remaining 90% of the world doesn't seem to really want to get their hands dirty.
The Chinese River Dolphin: functionally extinct since 2006.

The Amur Leopard: less than forty remaining.

The Abingdon Island Tortoise: only one remaining.

The Western Black Rhinoceros: functionally extinct since 2006.

The Golden Toad: extinct since 1989.

I could go on and on about plants and animals that are either extinct, or close to it, but I wont. We keep assuming the problem will be handled by the next generation, and so on. We need to get out of that rut.

In other news:
What's up with John McCain these days? Seriously. What's going on with him? He seemed like such a great candidate a few months ago. When did he become a nutcase?
Where's Wesley Clark when we need him?
