12/31/08 FAREWELL. The rumors are true. We are sad to say that Career Soldiers has broken up. It has been amazing six years together, but the time has come for us to call it quits. Thank you to anyone who has supported us in any way possible. If you are interested as to why we have broken up, please read on…
First off we want to say that this break up is in no way hostile, everyone in the band is still the best of friends and we are all bummed about this. As many of you may know, our drummer Tay lives in Salt Lake City, Utah and we have to fly him out to California when we play shows. Tay's original plan when he joined C.S. was to move out to San Diego with us so he could do the band full time. However, there have been recent occurrences that will not allow him to move. Plane tickets are too expensive for us to keep flying Tay out here and we cannot afford to do it any longer. Since Tay can't live in California with us, and we can't do the band full time we have decided to end Career Soldiers. Many people have asked why we don't just get a new drummer. This is an option, but it is not something that we are choosing to do. Career Soldiers is a family. We have had a total of 5 members in the 6 years we've been a band, and we have always been best friends. We have never let anyone in the band that we did not already know and trust. We are strong believers in keeping the same members for as long as possible. There are lots of bands out there that constantly have members quit, and are replaced by new people that the band doesn't even know to replace them. It seems that bands lose their integrity when this happens, which is why we did whatever we could to prevent this from happening to us. We don't know anyone who could replace Tay, so we think it would be best to end the band on a good note with a solid line up that we are all proud of.
With this being said, we want to send out a huge thank you to everyone who has supported Career Soldiers in any way. We have toured all over the United States and Canada and are extremely grateful to have experienced so many amazing shows and memories. None of this would have ever been possible if it weren't for our dedicated fans and we are forever grateful for your support. We want to end this band on a good note, which is why we will be doing three farewell shows. One will be in Riverside, one in Los Angeles, and one in our hometown of San Diego. All the details we have on the shows have been posted and we hope that all of you can come out and enjoy the last Career Soldiers shows ever. Thank you, farewell, and we'll see you on the road.
