12/31/08 FAREWELL. The rumors are true. We are sad to say that Career Soldiers has broken up. It has been amazing six years together, but the time has come for us to call it quits. Thank you to anyone who has supported us in any way possible. If you are interested as to why we have broken up, please read on…
First off we want to say that this break up is in no way hostile, everyone in the band is still the best of friends and we are all bummed about this. As many of you may know, our drummer Tay lives in Salt Lake City, Utah and we have to fly him out to California when we play shows. Tay's original plan when he joined C.S. was to move out to San Diego with us so he could do the band full time. However, there have been recent occurrences that will not allow him to move. Plane tickets are too expensive for us to keep flying Tay out here and we cannot afford to do it any longer. Since Tay can't live in California with us, and we can't do the band full time we have decided to end Career Soldiers. Many people have asked why we don't just get a new drummer. This is an option, but it is not something that we are choosing to do. Career Soldiers is a family. We have had a total of 5 members in the 6 years we've been a band, and we have always been best friends. We have never let anyone in the band that we did not already know and trust. We are strong believers in keeping the same members for as long as possible. There are lots of bands out there that constantly have members quit, and are replaced by new people that the band doesn't even know to replace them. It seems that bands lose their integrity when this happens, which is why we did whatever we could to prevent this from happening to us. We don't know anyone who could replace Tay, so we think it would be best to end the band on a good note with a solid line up that we are all proud of.
With this being said, we want to send out a huge thank you to everyone who has supported Career Soldiers in any way. We have toured all over the United States and Canada and are extremely grateful to have experienced so many amazing shows and memories. None of this would have ever been possible if it weren't for our dedicated fans and we are forever grateful for your support. We want to end this band on a good note, which is why we will be doing three farewell shows. One will be in Riverside, one in Los Angeles, and one in our hometown of San Diego. All the details we have on the shows have been posted and we hope that all of you can come out and enjoy the last Career Soldiers shows ever. Thank you, farewell, and we'll see you on the road.
-Jake, Ryan, Ricky, and Tay

Holy shit your lyrics were so REAL and raw. I don't even know how to explain how much your lyrics mean to me. I know it's for the best & I wish you luck in whatever you decide to do after this.

This is sad news, but the reason is definitely legit. Over the last 4 years I've seen you guys 20+ times, and everyone of them was amazing. Countless memories. I'm definitely going to be at the Che for your last show, you couldn't have picked a better place to end it than right here where it all began, SD.

Your Inspiration to me has led to make of what i strongly beleive in punkrock , your lyrics inspired me to make the songs that i wrote today, you guys showed me what punk really is so I Thank you from the heart and i wanted to ask if we(Dirty rebels) could play with you guys in San diego or Canoga park It would be a Honor because weve longed to see you guys but never had the chance and also our Drummer who is also a really big fan , his birthday is like almost the same day and if you let us play it would be the best birthday gift for him and we would really appreciate it and if not then were still going and were gonna pit our asses off for you guys.

Career Soldiers will live on through all the great memories that have been created by all the members in the band. Punk is alive and will continue to live as long as we dont forget where we have been, where we are going, who we have met and what is yet to come. I will be there for your show in La Jolla to support you guys. Thanks for creating something worth while.

Fuck Money, it's the only reason you guys broke up. Either way, the noise you produced in those six wonderful years I thank you for. I will always be a fan and plan to listen to you guys when punk becomes the new "oldies". I would love to see you guys play one last show but being from the east coast...it's not possible. I agree
you need to do what you gotta do
and i cant wait to see you guys tonight
I remember seeing you guys for the first time at Chain Reaction a couple years ago.
There werent a lot of people there but you guys put on a great show!
The last time i saw you guys, was at the Showcase and the place was packed with people screaming your lyrics. It was so awesome to see more and more people getting into your music. I'm going to miss seeing you guys. I will never forget the time i saw you guys and Jake has a hurt leg but still went out there and kicked ass and let people up on the stage of The Showcase. You guys were all about the fans and thats what sets you guys apart from most bands. Good luck in life and thanks for all the amazing unforgettable shows.
