The Forge Mountain Diggers are an old-time band consisting of David Bass (fiddle), Allison Williams (banjo and vocals), and Thomas Bailey (guitar and vocals). Although there is an almost total absence of liner notes, it is a minor blemish offset by an abundance of dynamic performances. The 15 selections are a balance of vocal and instrumental selections that highlight the fiddling of David Bass. Included are traditional pieces like "Run Mountain," "Hold The Woodpile Down," "Raleigh & Spencer," "Willow Garden," and others. The Forge Mountain Diggers have created a breathtaking collection of old-time music that deserves to be an integral part of any serious music library.
