Today was definitely a day to remember. A day filled with so much emotion, joy, hope, tears and sadness. My day started out with me waking up to turn on CNN, which I usually never do. Today was the day our 44th president was sworn in, President Barack Obama. Seeing the sea of people infront of him showed how much we can do when we all come together. This is the beginning of a great thing. I felt very emotional watching him take his vows.
I then went in to work and today was the day of the dreaded Clear Channel budget cuts. As soon as I got there a few of my coworkers were already gone, a few of my coworkers were crying. And then it wasn't long before I was told that I was let go as well. It's funny cuz I knew it was coming, I had the fattest smile upon my face. The way I look at it is that it was a great ride, and if it has to come to an end then it has to come to an end. I'm glad I didn't have to say bye to people as I left because I would just start crying. I bumped into Nicole and Jimmy on my way out and I tried to just walk away but Nicole gave me this hug and that's when I actually started crying.
It only took minutes after I left the building for my phone to start ringing off the hook with everyone calling me and seeing if it was true, or if I was okay. I feel okay about the situation, not everything in life always goes the way that you think or have planned, but everything does happen for a reason. I'm a firm believe that you should never feel guilt for your past: the good, bad and the ugly. Sometimes you gotta go through the bad times to realize how good the good times are.
Now watching TV, it's all the footage from the inauguration today.. I'm just watching Barack have his first dance with his wife.. I've never seen this country so united and so happy. It's a great feeling, it's amazing. I'm glad I had time to go to the mall and buy my first Obama shirt today.. =)
Go out there and do something for YOURSELF, and make yourself feel good =]
