Aloha,
I am still feeling the "Maui glow" after returning from paradise just a few days ago. The events we played there were amazing. Last Friday night, I played a concert with Ty Burhoe on Tabla and Cameron Stone on Cello at Studio Maui and Saturday night I did a trance dance event (Five Rhythms), something new that I have never done before that turned out amazing!!! We played along with my new "Sanctuary" remixes. The DJ would fade them out and we would continue to play live and improvise. The inspiration flowed and we jammed on some new ideas that you may hear in my new recordings. When I felt the energy should go back up again, I would cue DJ Kabba and he would fade in another track. There was one piece that we were all singing together in harmony that I just had to hear again so I asked if anyone had a cell phone so I could call my machine and record it on there. I just had to hear that again before I went to bed that night!!!! It was so beautiful and unifying. It's so fun to sing with the band and then go out to dance with everyone and be part of that energy. On our last day on Maui, we went snorkeling at the coral reefs. I had no idea what a deep experience this would be for me to witness nature in this way. As I admired the beauty and listened to the high crackling sounds from the water below accompanied by my deep breaths, I was transported to another time. The feeling of oneness with all of life and nature held me and I found myself in a timeless peace, part of another world that I didn't want to leave.
It feels so great now to return home to the cool breeze of fall in Topanga Canyon. I have a few more tour dates this year and will be in my studio recording new songs looking out of my Topanga window. By the way, baby Luciana loves to travel and made so many friends along the way. Everyone always says, "I think that is the happiest baby I have seen, she is always smiling!!!" I feel blessed!!!
