I Ain't Afraid of no Ghosts…or am I???

by Robin Greenwood (wprs investigator)

Have you ever had something happen to you that you just can't explain? Have you had the feeling of being watched, but turn around to find no one there? The Wichita Paranormal Research Society (WPRS) of Kansas is the one to call. Established in July of 2007 by founder, Shane Elliot.  WPRS has come far in such a short period of time, having a strong team of seven main investigators, a handful of on-call investigators, and a website (www.wichitaparanormal.com) member base of over 250 family, friends, clients, and fans. Each Investigator has had a taste of their own paranormal experiences that has brought them to the same mission to be able to find answers to the unknown.

WPRS started out looking for answers to paranormal questions, but over time has become more educated, and has changed its out look on investigations.  Especially private home investigations.  95% of the private home investigations WPRS gets called into we are able to give normal reason for what seems to be paranormal activity.

Commercial Business' also contact WPRS to investigate possible paranormal phenomena.  These cases include The Orpheum Theatre, The Beaumont Hotel in Beaumont Kansas, Mosley Street Melodrama, and the Eldridge Hotel in Lawrence Kansas to name a few.

The Wichita Paranormal Research Society uses scientific means to prove, or disprove a haunting.  Our equipment includes infra red cameras, dvr recorders, dvd recorders, electro magnetic field detectors, digital voice recorders, digital and 35mm cameras, and hand held video cameras to name a few.   We do are best to try to explain any possible paranormal activity with normal reasoning.  If there is a possibility something could be achieved, or recreated normally than we have to throw it out.   It's that 5% that we can't explain that is considered evidence.

One of our more high profile cases has been the Historical Orpheum Theatre.   Built in 1922 the theatre has had many famous acts such as Fannie Brice, Charlie Chaplin, Ray Charles, and Clint Black.

Our investigation there consisted of 8 none stop hours of audio and video recording.   That's 7 investigators with at least one digital audio recorder each, and 8 infrared cameras covering the entire building.  From the basement, to the main lobby, to the the catwalk above the stage.

After reviewing 86 hours of video, and 56 hours of audio we actually found quite a few evp's (electronic voice phenomenon).  EVPs are voices you hear on a recording that you didn't hear at the actual time of the recording with the human ear.

Some of the evp's we captured included when one of our investigators (Robin Greenwood) was down in the orchestra pit.  Her right arm from her shoulder to her elbow become ice cold and after discussing this with some other investigators she asked if whatever did that could touch her hand.  On her recorder she got the answer "NO".

Another evp we captured was in the basement.  An investigator (Sherry Curry) was running out of ideas for questions to ask when she decided to ask "What's wrong are there not enough chairs in Heaven?"  The response she got on her recorder was a woman's laugh.

We actually caught several evps from the Historical Orpheum Theatre, and you can listen to them on our website at www.wichitaparanormal.com
