Backbone is one of many words in our vocabulary in which we try to instill in ourselves and children.  It is a word which has several definitions but I must say my favorite words which synomically (did i just make a new word? lol) align with backbone are:  stability, fortitude, mental and physical strength, confidence, courage, persistance, strength of character and guts. 

Those people and things which hurt us will only make us stonger ~ backbone

Actually its "That which doesn't kill me will make me stronger." I don't remember who's quote it is but you've got it right calling it "backbone".

Yes, i know the quote you are speaking of as well. However, there are people in this life who disappoint and do things you would never imagine them doing. This person(s)or
action(s) do not actually kill me for I will not allow it. To me the words "kill me" represent total devestation and one might continuously think or worry about the issue. oh well....i could go on and on but i've got to get back to work. thanks!

Makes perfect sense to me! And synomically sounds right too. Of course maybe you could use "in synonymity", but that doesn't even sound right --- if I could even say it.

Still love your songs --- even "Angel from Montgomery" is sounding better than John Prine and Bonnie Raits'. (Probably didn't spell her name right).

Hi Jameylee,
I agree wholeheartedly with people and things which hurt us will make only us stronger! I didn't know of your music before today but discovered you on iTunes when I wanted to download the song Angel from Montgomery onto my ipod. I listened to every Angel from Montgomery on iTunes and selected yours! I'm gonna order your CD. It sounds awesome. Thanks, Kim
