Dear Rue Morgue Readers,

After seven years as Editor of Rue Morgue Magazine, the time has come for me to move on. I worked very hard to make the magazine the best it could possibly be the entire time I was there and I'm proud of my contribution to it and the status I helped elevate it to. But a career in journalism has never been a goal of mine. It was an interesting detour, that's for sure, but I have always been a writer and an artist and have had a strong desire to follow my instinct to create. I am excited to return to my creative roots and look forward to announcing my upcoming projects in film, television and print. I can't wait to tell you about some of the exciting collaborations I have in the works as well.

In the meantime, I am currently focusing on my most creative and challenging endeavour to date: the birth of my first child, which is currently growing in my womb. Yes, you read that right, I'm pregnant! It's an exciting and very happy time for my fiancee and I. We couldn't be more thrilled.

That said, rest assured, I am not abandoning horror, I'm merely taking a break to refocus and return with a vengeance and do what I've longed to do since before I started at the magazine: contribute creatively to the genre I love so much.

If any of you want to keep in touch, I'll be launching a new website soon, which will have updates on my creative projects as well as a blog where I'll be posting about the body horrors of pregnancy. ;) I hope to see you reading it. You can find me at:

www.jovankavuckovic.com (Coming Soon)
www.facebook.com/jovankavuckovic
www.twitter.com/jovankavuckovic

Feel free to drop me a line here or at my website and stay in touch. I've always loved to hear from the readers. You guys are the reason I kept going for so long. I wish I could have said goodbye in my editorial, but sometimes things don't work out the way you'd like them to. I'm truly grateful for all the wonderful people I've met and the readers I've corresponded with on this journey. I've said this before and I'll say it again: without you, there would be no Rue Morgue.

I hope to see you all on the other side.

Much love and respect,
Jovanka Vuckovic

A bittersweet moment to hear. On the one hand, I will miss your editorials and articles on RUE MORGUE. In fact, your work was one of the reasons why I started reading the magazine. It's sad to hear that you won't be working there anymore, but it's the way of the writer. One door closes, and so forth, to coin the old cliché.

BUT...I'm happy that you'll have a baby coming soon. Someone to share your love of Horror and Fantasy and tattoos and all the other moments parents share with their children. I'm guessing that your child will be just as great and wonderful and gifted as you are now. I can only hope he (or she) will look upon you with reverence, respect and perhaps a little embarrassment as all children do with their parents...and that love will be the one emotion you both hold over all.

I will look forward to your website and your future projects, Ms. Vuckovic. I only wish I could've met you at one of the Rue Morgue conventions and give my gratitude personally. Perhaps you'll continue to attend those functions as Editor Emeritus as you've done much to make the magazine the best there is. And I'm hoping the gang there will give you the tribute you richly deserve. You might've not had the chance to say goodbye, but the staff should send you off in a proper fashion with love and tears and well wishes for the future like any good staff should.

This is not goodbye, ma'am. Merely be seeing you soon. Please continue to haunt the Horror community in a most fitting manner.

FOZ (NEW SONGS UP NOW!)

I've read every issue throughout your tenure at Rue Morgue as Editor, and you've made that magazine come so far, and be THE BEST MAGAZINE there is. Not just horror, but out of any magazine, Rue Morgue is the best, always giving the fans what they want.
I've never seen a bad issue.

I will miss the hell out of you, and hope to see a guest column every blue moon.
Congratulations on the baby, and good luck in your future projects, I'll be keeping an eye out for them. Be sure to post on your myspace about everything to keep us updated!

Your Big Fan - Foz

..Good Luck Jovanka! It was ghoulishly great to see a "alternative" looking horror magazine editor & a woman to boot! Even Uncle Forry was impressed! ( Which you delivered a wonderful & tearjearking speech at his memorial by the way) Being a huge fan of "The Rue" you were the perfect addition to the mag in my opinion. You will be immensely by this monster kid. Congrats on the spooky spawn & I can't wait to see what you have in store for the future! ..

On one hand I'm completely happy for you concerning your pregnancy and excited for what creative endeavors that you may invoke in the future. On the other hand, I just have to trust Rodrigo and Dave to keep Rue Morgue what it has been. If Rue Morgue "Fangorias out", it will be a great loss to the horror world. Thanks for all the excellent work. The Poe issue was exceptional. Best of luck. I do hope I hear what you're up to in the future and wish you all the good fortune in the world. May Cthulhu smile down upon you (you couldn't see it because of the tentacles but.....).

As a fellow horror-lover with a newly-discovered darling sweet parasite in her womb as well, I empathize fully.  *big grin*

All bullshit aside, I respect your opinions on horror and always looked forward to everything you did with RM.  You are one of the best things to happen to the mag.

I wish you the utmost good luck and best health for you and your new family.

Congrats on the Baby News! The baby will just make you a stronger woman, trust me. Let us know what you are having! You will feel like a real Zombie with the hunger you get for meat pregnant. Or, you'll feel like an old 80 horror movie victim with the babies legs and arms moving inside of you. But on the real, I am happy to hear you are pregnant, your baby is going to have the coolest Mama. Cant wait to see what else your gonna turn around in the world of Horror!

..My dear Jovanka, you will leave an unfillable hole in the magazine with your departure and I hope that the powers that be know what they are losing. You have inspired a massive amount of horror fans the world over with your insight while turning a little horror mag into the giant it is today. I know in my black heart that your wisdom will create a superior monster in the industry and your gift will show it's face in a much larger form. I look forward to that and will forever be a follower and fan. Much good health to you and baby.....The pleasure is all mine,........Priestess Pandora.... ..

..Man I was truly shocked when I opened the latest mag and didn't see your name, but it sounds like your happy so that's great. You will be a cool mom. I have three kids and it's really not as insane as some people make it out to be(the crying can get a little annoying) but besides that it's awesome. i look forward to seeing you put some creative work out in the future. You know I think your a good writer so yeah I'm excited for you. Write a graphic novel that'd be cool, your baby daddy could illustrate-I's just sayin! Good luck though and try to stay inspired the dark side needs you! Take care -Tom Ouellette....
