Yes, I have been reading some of the 411 comments, and really have found most of them to be very interesting. One of the people left the comment that I shouldn't judge every person who comments on the site based on the reactions of a few people. You know, that person is right, and in truth, I was probably guilty of doing just that. I know I'm just getting around to using a computer now, but I remember back when I was a huge fan, laying in wait for the new copy of "Wrestling Eye" to come out, just to get some "real" wrestling news. Even though I don't go on the wrestling sites very often, I will often ask JB what people on them are saying.

I probably wasn't clear enough when I asked for a little more information about the people on 411. Really, I wanted those handful of people making it clear they wouldn't be asking Santa for the new Mick Foley book to respond. But alot of people responded, and I did find the imformation to be very useful. I didn't look at every comment, as there were so many there, but I think just about anyone can see that the very critical comments TEND (note I said TEND) to be not as well thought out or as well written as the others.

As far as the new book goes, and whether or not four is at least one to many. Well, I guess if someone feels that way, it is. If they don't, it isn't. There was one really interesting comment about how the "Hardcore Diaries" seemed forced; that the diary format hid the fact that I didn't really have that much to talk about. I disagree - I really like the book, and am glad I wrote it. I doubt you will ever see a book that critical of the company written by someone still working for them. I don't want to kill any enthusiasm for the new book, but those looking for me to blast WWE will likely be dissapointed. My feelings for the company, and for Vince himself, are largely positive, even if I am very happy not to be there anymore.

Readers who thought I veered too far from wrestling in the last book will likey feel the same way about this one, though I'm thinking about adding a helpful "wrestleometer" at the start of every chapter, just in case they want to take a pass on one of my non-wrestling chapters. But looking back on "Hardcore Diaries", my favorite chapters are the ones dealing with kids I've met along the way. So that one guy who has heard enough stories about me helping younsters to last him a lifetime might want to skip this book completely.

As far as the one guy who referred to me as "whoring himself out" by writing another book? Well, let me see. I've got the Oxford American Dictionary here, and while they do have definitions for "whoring", "himself" and "out", the phrase as a whole leaves itself open for interpretation. But my personal interpretation would be along the lines of "doing something one isn't proud of or emotianally invested in simply for money". I have to say, I think that person's comment was a little off base here. I actually enjoy the writing process (at least most of the time) and have been proud of, and emotionally invested in everything I've ever written. Now I don't want to further put off the guy who doesn't need any more stories of me helping kids, but I have already pledged 50% of all my proceeds to charity. So, take away that 50%, deduct agents and managers fees, and state and federal income taxes, and there's not a real good chance of making a financial killing on this one.

Will this book, my fourth, be as absorbing as Brett Hart's autobiography? Probably not. Will it be as fun as Jericho's "A Lion's Tale", an incredible action-adventure coming of age story? I doubt it. But for people who like my style of telling stories, are interested in my ongoing adventures, and want a slightly differest perspective on the trials and tribulations of life inside the wonderful world of wrestling...you could do a whole lot worse.

Well said, as always, Mick!   I'm looking forward to the new book, although I must admit my reading list is a bit behind at the moment.  Thankfully, good stories are like good wine; they get better with age.

Thanks for the updates, and please share another selection from the new book when you feel inclined. The sneak peeks are wonderful.

Much Love! Ms D

I will. You know, I read a Rolling Stone article with Lil' Wayne, which said that many in the music biz questioned his decision to give away so much music, but in the end, it made people want to see the finished product.

Mick your an awesome writer and wrestler and like I've said before the only reason people run their mouths like that is because they are hiding behind a computer screen. Chances are they are just jealous because they don't even have ONE talent they can make money off of and you have at least three that we know of. Yes, thats right, I saw Big Money Hustlas and know that the Mickster can act.  These kids are just jealous because chances are they couldnt even write a decent obituary. Your the man Mick, keep up the good work.

Well said Mick. I dont understand why these people have to be so critical. I think its as simple as this; If someone dosent think you should be writing another book, they arent being forced to buy it, so it shouldnt matter to them. The mere fact that they spend their time on website commenting about it means it grabs their interest one way or another. Good luck with the new book, i know ill be checking it out.

All the people who talk about 'selling out' and 'whoring out' dont know what there talking about. They are just too absorbed into the product that they dont step back and look at what is logical. Ur no sell-out, and definately not a whore. Ill admit, when u jumped to TNA, 'sell out' was the first thing i thought, but now, after seeing how much u enjoy it, i realize, i woulda done the same thing, most likley. Bang, bang!

I am an avid 411 reader and I have left my share of negativity in the comment section.  While some negativity can offer opposing views (a good thing), the comments listed in the news feed about your new book were pretty shameful.  The whole internet wrestling community seems to spawn negativity like it is an obligation in watching wrestling.

Ill never forget when we met a few years ago and we talked about your books.  You instantly perked up when I told you how much I enjoyed them and I knew from that moment how serious you take your writing.  We didnt even talk about wrestling once!

Oh and I also learned you really are the cheapest guy ever, yelling at me cause you thought I ripped off a second autograph!   :- (

At least we had a good Meat Loaf conversation with old James E Cornette chiming in.  BTW, I have a story to share sometime about when Jim Steinman heard about our meeting.  Pretay, pretaaaaay interesting.

Mick, I've two freams in my life. When I was younger, I wanted to be a professional wrestler. Now that I'm older, there's still a small part of me that wants to be a wrestler, but my dream now is to be a writer. You are the catalyst for both dreams. I've ready most of your work and can't wait to read your nest book. Keep up the good work Mick.

That I am. I actually attend USC out here in LA. I'm going for an MFA in Film Production. On a serious note, I would love to put your life story to screen, because you are the greatest "loser" of all time. I use the term "loser" loosely. You see Mick, no one busts ass and puts on a great match like you, but all your great matches you tend to come out the jobber. That of course adds to the respect you've garnered. It is after all a show, and all that matters is people are entertained. You are a tremendous entertainer. I would like to continue to the convo in private messages if you wouldn't mind. I'm not sure the thread is appropriate for all eyes.

I enjoyed all the books and I appreciate an expanding area of topics, that one would expect given the author's pursuit of an increasingly wide array of interests and experiences in life. The honesty expressed about feeling a duty to charitable causes and the severely impoverished places that put you in was incredibly fascinating for a book on any subject. Wrestling fans should appreciate the unique status that an icon of the sport has earned, partly from that fame, by getting to take part in these things.

You're magnanimous enough to not wear all that on your sleeve, as well as take credit for how you helped Jericho in his book that only served to earn it the title of being the best wrestling book since your first.

Lastly, on the new Spin Cycle segment: words can't do it justice. That was wonderfully hilarious and I loved the entire thing. I hope we see much more.

First of all, if you get the itch to write, you need to scratch it. I think it was Stephen King who dropped that pearl of wisdom, and it's worked out pretty well for him over the years. Second of all, you can never please everyone, so you may as well write whatever you want to and let the chips fall where they may. As I see it, your tangents make your writing interesting. You have the ability to take your readers from the wrestling ring to a family vacation to a rented Lumina you're sharing with Al Snow in the matter of a few short paragraphs, and in the end, you can tie it all together into something cohesive. That makes you unique, so keep it up. Because as much as I loved the behind-the-scenes look at the WWE that Hardcore Diaries offered, it was the story of the badly burned boy in Afghanastan that sticks with me to this day.

The funny thing is I bet alot of the people who bashing you on 411 will read the new one coming out. Alot of people who write junk like that on 411 are just bored people looking for something to do. Saying postive comments about people gets boring, so they feel bashing a guy is more fun. So thats why we see comments like I can't believe Foley is writing a 4th book about himself or people complaining about stories about you doing nice things for people. That right there is just pointless comments by people trying to be negative. As for people saying "he's whoring himself out" by doing another book. Hmm... let me guess where that clown got that from? I guess he must of enjoyed your promo's with Paul Heyman back in 2006 when you and Edge were going against ECW. That stuff right there is just a stupid person trying to be cleaver and use a wrestling storyline as a dig at you. One thing I did notice by visiting 411 was the support you got on there and all the people defending you. I believe alot of people were bothered that these people comments upset you and went to 411 and post when they usually don't do things like that. Too me that shows how highly people think of you and how many fans you really have. Like others have said on here Mick don't let these people get you down.

Mick, as I said in that message I sent you about two weeks ago, I very much enjoyed "The Hardcore Diaries". They were funny, heartwarming and inspirational and really made you think about how lucky anyone is as a person at times in my opinion. And the wrestling parts were great too, it's always interesting to see how things happen backstage opposed to how it comes off on stage. Anyone who says the book wasn't good - hell; great, needs a reality check. Not only are you an awesome wrestler, but you're a great writer and one hell of a person. Those stupid sites and anyone else who says otherwise can put that into their juicebox and suck it.

Mick I just bought Hardcore Diaries at Barnes and Noble the other day.  About two-thirds of the way through so far, I'd have to disagree vehemently with the dorkus maximus that says the book feels forced.  Unless they mean sitting down and forcing yourself to write 9,000 words in a day, as you wrote yourself at one point.

You've experienced more events and have more stories to tell than most people ever could given five lifetimes.  If said goofball claims to be sick of hearing your life story, let him!  Dozens (and dozens!) of true Foley fans can't wait to hear even more about the man named Mick Foley, the charity worker Mick Foley, the pro wrestler Mick Foley, the family man Mick Foley, and even Dude Love.  Keep it up, you've been blessed with a gift for writing most can never even dream of!  What is it now, four NYTimes bestsellers?  It's an incredibly difficult task to write just one!

I for one want to hear more about bumming a tie off of Regis.

Have a nice day (night?)

Ignore these people Mick, they aren't worth it.  You're a genuine legend in the wrestling field, and what are they?  Are they household names?  New York Times best sellers?  They only wish that they could accomplish half of what you have, and be even a portion of what you are personality-wise.  Personally, I can't wait for the book...even if I stopped watching wrestling this past year, I will always be a Foley fan.  Your books are tremendously funny, inspirational, touching, and overall - incredible.  Keep writing.

Mick my friend, the world is filled with countless critics who are easily annoyed by celebrities making more money than them or have nothing better to do but bash on the creativity of others. It's difficult to find people who care about others. When the good people are discoverd they tend to have enemies who can't understand your compassion for others. Jesus Christ is an example of how his compassion for humanity grew popular but alas, those who did not understand him just erased him by crucifixtion.

Mick,

Thank you for pointing out the difference between the overly negative commenters (aka the "trolls") and the rest of the site.  I can promise you that, as a long-time fan of 411Mania and for the past year a writer on it, I have often wished the trolls would just go away forever and hoped people would see the difference between the two.  Obviously that is not always the case, and I was worried initially that you would end up doing the same; I am glad to see you haven't.

Rest assured that, as many of your readers here will be, I will be reading your book when it comes out.  I've enjoyed your work so far as a writer and am sure I will continue to.  I hope that you check out more on the site other than the comments on those two newsposts because I think you would enjoy some of our writers, even if you don't always (or even ever) agree with their opinions.  And for Mick's fans posting here, know that I (and many others like me) count myself among you.

Thanks for reading!

Hey Mick, I think alot of the people who think you are "Whoring yourself out", are just mad because you left New York. I am pretty sure most of the people saying that stuff are the ones who are told that WWE is wrestling and since you left them that you are against them. I ran into that same issue working for 2 local wrestling companies, some of the fans turned on me because I was working for the "other guys" so I wasn't loyal to them. So I would just continue to do what you love and hope you do make some good money off of it. You  seem to be one of the last "good guys" out there that will give away some of your money if it will help someone in need. Most people are so greedy they can't spare change for a charity. I commend you for what you do take care and take it easy my friend.

You were awesome with all your fans even signing Al Snow's name on the stupid things people would give you to sign. I have all your biographys signed by you, and enjoyed everyone because of the honesty in them. After getting a chance to ride the Comet at our employee party with Dewey and Noel  that you attened, made all the stories about your family even better. Keep doing what your good at, entertaining the millions and millions of your fans both in the ring and out. If you're ever in Denver stop and say Have a nice day.
