Daffney's got it going on. That's what I think whenever I see her on TV, doing promos, in the ring, etc. Which is my way of saying that she's really hit her stride; everything seems to be coming together simultaneously. I've always thought that anything that's different is good, and man is this chick different. I try to give feedback when I see something I like, and it seems that I'm always saying something to her about what I see. "I love the outfit, Daffney, it's creepy, it's you." Or, "great promo, I like how calm you are."  She slithers like a snake, she's got a cool walk, all her stuff in the ring looks good, and like all good characters, she makes you wonder where the character ends/where the person begins. I've been around her for a while now, and I don't really have a clue. Plus, she's read one of my novels like 4 times, and that's a little scary.

As many of you know, I am a big believer in doing promos that are not heavily scripted. Just a few bullet points and a little emotion, and I'm usually fine. Occasionally, however, these type of promos will yield a verbal faux pas that rolls off the tounge right before you can catch it - you know it's wrong the moment you say it, but by that time, it's too late. For example on an upcoming "Impact" episode, I state that it's been 18 years sice I've said "I Quit", which is obviously not correct. I did in fact say those exact words three years ago in a match with Ric Flair. As a matter of fact, to make sure there was no confusion, I repeated the words five times. What I meant to say was that it had been 18 years since I'd tapped out, which is, to the best of my recollection, the truth.

Also, I am aware that I told my crack security staff to sharpie out the MEM on their shirts. Either they refused or I forgot, because the wardrobe alteration was never made. But, mistakes aside, I hope everyone enjoys the buildup to "Victory Road". I think there is some good stuff between me and Kurt to build up the match I've been dreading. For Kurt is still one of the best conditioned athletes in the world and still approaches every match as if it's for Olympic gold. So I'd better get both the wheels in my mind and the wheels on my bike turning if I hope to survive this thing with some semblance of pride intact.

daffney is the type that can redefine a program.. i've always thought that.. the brutality of her scream is a wonderful thing.. i can imagine she has a lot to teach the other knockouts as well.. in my opinion, one of the best pickups they've had recently..

good luck in the angle match, mick.. i'll get my kazoo ready..

Better as Daffney that The Governor -- that Minnesota-style accent didn't fit the Sarah Palin wannabe.  Good luck with Kurt -- he's big and does a real good job of being mean!!!!!

Daffney is my favorite, she has the guts to put it on the line for the job she loves and it shows. Keep her on every week. I knew she would take the tacs because her real character is tough as nails, and that can't be hidden. Also don't let her get too crazy and get hurt. That's the same I was thinking about you Mick when you were in the WWE.

Daffney is so much greater than her days in WCW and ROH.  She is a natural athlete too (a soccer player...little know fact.)

Just remember Mick that when it comes to Kurt Angle, there's a story about a hare and a tortoise.  Slow and steady can win out over fast and possessed.

All of the above mentioned about Daffney rings true, that and the fact that her beauty is somewhat different then the 'knockouts' or the WWE 'Divas'. Add to that the fact that her ring entrance can give Christy's a run for her money, with the way she goes into the splits and rolls over after. Her and Taylor did have one hell of a sub-match during the Monsters Ball.

daffney is the best female wrestler in tna. i am glad tna has acquired her and not vince. theres just something about her that captures and holds your attention. i hope she really breaks out and gets a run for the knockout championship because she really deserves to wear that belt.

good luck at victory road mick because as you in a roundabout way you will need it,but we all know with you we will get one helleva match since it's for the belt, dont get me wrong all your matches are good but when it's for the belt thats when you shine the most

Daff does have that "creepiness," but that is what makes her so exceptionally special!  Her reading one of your novels four times...that's downright scary (hahaha)!

Thanks for the blooper spoilers!  I'll have to listen for those, and look for your expression.  Does it show when those slips of the tongue happen?

Great blog, as always, Mick!  Looking forward to Impact Thursday night even more now!

i was a huge fan of daffeny when she was in wcw and now that she is back im really excited, im like that too mick anything that is really different in wrestling i really like...i wonder if she does her own makeup or not..because its done really good...i mean it dosent look poorly blended or anything...she was doing a promo i think it was last thursday and your right she stayed calm and her words came out of her mouth like silk....i really am looking forward to seeing her character grow and to see what she is going to do next:)
the promos that you do are great, and the fact that its not heavily scipted makes it so much more real... and thats what i love to see when it comes to promos...back in the day in a certain company i used to see one guy talking and the guy he was talking to would be mouthing the words the other guy was saying... and i would always say to myself... that is the fakest thing ever....but in tna when they make mistakes or mess up on something, it just makes it much more belivable ya know?!?! keep up the good work mick i love watching your promos:)
you will just have to crack the whip as they say with your big security boys...lol... as far as the match with kurt, i have a feeling that its going to be really amazing...kurt could perform if he had to do it under water and still put everything he had into it:) and you never stop amazing me in that 6 sided ring mick, im so proud of everything that tna is doing...keep it up:)

I gotta agree with you about everything you said about Daffney. She is very good at cutting promos and has a great character and great look. I have read nothing but postive things about her when visiting message boards. As for your match with Kurt, well I'm thrilled about that. Out of all the guys I have been wanting to see you wrestle one on one, Kurts number one on the list and has been for a while. I can understand wrestling someone like Kurt the first time one on one could be a little scary. But you will be fine Mick, you wrestled some of the best guys in the world over the last 23 years.  So I'm confident you will know what it's going to take to have a really good match with Kurt and will be ready for it. I really believe the match will be very good. So just go out there do your best and I'm sure people will love it. Also if you happen to win the World Title back, that would be amazing too.

If Hulk Hogan can say he pressed a "700 lb" Andre the Giant over his head, then you, as a man who fell some 20 or so feet from a cell, don't have to worry about semantics and details.

I'm glad you seem to have such freedom and enthusiasm with TNA. It has been amazing to see how well you've pulled off this unique role since arriving, working in the top programs with top talent for this long of a stretch and keeping it interesting and involving. I always enjoy the psychology you get across before, during, and after these PPVs. You bring a lot of different things to the show.

I feel the same way for Daffney! Top talent in the TNA Knockouts division. I'm proud to know Daffney's representing my kind...the unique and the dark. She's a total natural. The gimmick is flawless on her. She's one of the main reasons I watch TNA. The WWE does NOT have any goth divas. Just a bunch of the same crap. Mostly blonde preppy girls. some brunettes. Have of time can't wrestle or cut promos. Their styles aren't unique nor impressive. Victoria was the ONLY diva I didn't change the channel on.

1) I like Daffney a lot, she's very unique and entertaining.

2) I hate the big scripted promos. I would rather hear minor mistakes like yours than hear guys recite something written for them. There's a few guys like John Cena who probably could cut way better promos than what we're hearing, but we'll never hear them. So I'll still take yours over WWE's promos.

3) Have you ever wrestled Kurt? I think you retired right when he was starting out. That could be a really cool match if you guys planned it right.

I've loved Daffney since her time in WCW with David Flair and Crowbar, even then you could tell she had IT. It doesn't hurt that she's hot as hell either, that Palin gimmick was dreadful - politics just don't fit in wrestling period.

Chin up Mick, tape those knees and hit that bike trail because Kurt is going to bring it at Victory Road. I know you'll entertain us, you haven't let us down yet - peace.

I caught up! Yay! Anyway: People make mistakes and tht's ok. We're only human after all. Now as it relates to Daffney: Brother let me tell you that i have loved that woman from day one! And the way she is working right now in TNA is...well let's just say she make it move. Just like Kong made it move for you a while back. i believe you said that on Spin Cycle a few months back and I just felt like brining it up. Why? Because she made it move Mick@ She made it move!

Back to Daffney: I am really glad she is getting a chance to shine. Everything just seem to be clciking and I look forward to seeing ehr every week. She's a gorgeous woman, an amazing talent, and she reads your books as much as I do (I lost count to the amount of times I've read your books but I will be reading one again soon because of this blog.) Give my Goth Goddess a hug for me. And if she makes it move for you it's ok. It's ok. She does that to a lot of men.

Daffney is one of my favorites, She will be what Diva's will look up to as a great female wrestler. You can tell she was a fan of you, Taker because I see that was mix of that her persona. But also in a done in a sexy way which makes her diffenert in today blond bombshells or zesty red heads.I nice to see a dark female Diva.

Well I work for a haunted house which is kinda like wrestling in that any great pop gets a better reaction. And in our haunt The Dent Schoolhouse (frightsite.com) we don't script we have some people that have a famous line like you have Have a nice day!, I have Rest In Damnation and rest is improve mostley and anything can come out of mouth, I work in the garveyard and I told a kid that
I was going take my shovel and use his head as a golf ball. The Parents loved it watching there kid cry. Later on I remembered what i said, the thought I'm going to hell after I die.

Yeah Kurt's a great wrestler so watch out man, Bring Mr. Happy sock out shove it down his Olympic throat, Then a piledriver for all mankind!

I'm reminded of some of those creepiest characters in wrestling history like Kamala (he was one of my favourites, as a kid). I was also a big fan of some characters like Abdullah the Butcher...who looked really ferocious and scary to me...here we have some of those fat butchers selling meat who have those stares, scary looks, scar marks etc n the guy looked absolutely similar to those real life guys. I also loved that Kurrgan character played by Robert Maillet when he first appeared in that persona. Accompanied by the Jackyl, the guy really looked like a Frankenstein monster. But later they blew it up making him a pure clown under the Oddities, making a joke out of that serious monster character.

I would like to see a Dungeon of Doom like faction at some point with all those creepy characters like Abyss, Daffney, Raven (n may be Umaga, if he's brought here) etc. Steven Richards could act as the mouth of the group then, and do all the talking for them.

Again one of my dream feuds is Crow Sting vs Joker of the Dark Knight. Both are my favourites and it's really sad that no creative has ever tried to give life to a dream heel character based on the maniacal Joker of the Batman movies...that character could rock on for years...playing an inverse, bad version of Sting like loner face characters.

I agree Mick.  No offense, but Kurt has always been my favorite.  To come up from amateur wresting and the Olympics and just "get it" was something I always admired about him.  And also when I was reading about how excited he was to join TNA to be a mentor and offer advice, just makes me like him even more.  As a face or a heel, he will always be a favorite and I absolutely know that you two will put on a helluva show!  Can't wait.  Also, I don't know if you remember (you told me you saved the message) but I was wondering if you or any other TNA wrestler, it's so much better to say than superstar, was able to help us out with the donation to my Squadron's Christmas Party here at Hill AFB.  Just send me a message if you read this.  Thanks.

I love Daffney. With respect to Lex Luger, she's the total package. I'll admit that I'll often be checking emails while TNA is on, as I often just don't have the time to devote solely to watching TV. Whatever else I have dividing my attention always comes to a screeching halt as soon as Daffney appears, however.  I hope she sticks around fror quite some time to come.
