Hello from New York!

I've been living in New York this summer shooting a little indie film called "A Little Help".  I play a train-wreck of a mother who drinks and smokes and flirts with her brother-in-law.  It's been a blast - a total departure from Pam.

We are mostly shooting in Long Island.  Lots of LONG hours.  If I'm not working I'm probably sleeping or on the highway.  I haven't had much down time to enjoy the city.  But last weekend I went to see a play with Barack Obama.

Yes!  You read that right!  I saw a Broadway play with BARACK OBAMA and the FIRST LADY!

Well...sort of.

I'm sure you've read by now that The President and First Lady went on a date night to New York City to see the play "Joe Turner's Come and Gone" by August Wilson.  My boyfriend and I got tickets!  We had horrible seats but we didn't care because we got to see a play with the President!

Security around the theater was intense.  They blocked off the street around 7:30pm.  People with tickets to the show had to wait down the block until after the President had arrived to the theater.  He was on time - even a little early - which I found impressive.  Once he was settled they let us load into the theater.  We had to go through 2 different levels of security...metal detector, they waved those wands over our bodies and patted us down.  There was even a canine unit!

Once inside we took our seats up in the balcony.  The President and First Lady went to their seats just before the curtain went up.  Everyone in the theater stood and applauded.  Here is what they looked like that night:

Here is what I saw:

My boyfriend got a better view of Obama.  He saw this:

I was jealous.

The play itself was incredible.  August Wilson writes beautiful dialogue.  The actors were amazing.  It was an exhilarating night of theater for sure.

After the play was over the President and First Lady made a quick exit.

I'm not sure what we'll do this weekend but I can't imagine it can top seeing a play with the President.

Hope you guys enjoyed the finale!  They didn't tell me about the pregnancy until the week before.  So when I told you guys we weren't having a baby - I wasn't lying...I didn't know!

The producers brought me into their office and told me their plan.  I was as shocked as Pam!  It actually works out perfectly.  I had to gain a little weight for my role in "A Little Help" and now it just looks like Pam's pregnancy weight!  Yay for me!  I guess I don't have to cut out the extra donuts and vanilla shakes just yet :)

Oh...and this is totally random.  I don't have TiVo here so I've been watching a lot of live television.  I'm totally addicted to reruns of Roseanne.  That show is amazing.  Seriously brilliant.  I think it might be the best family sitcom ever.

Have a great summer guys!  Go see Ed's movie The Hangover!  It's getting majorly good reviews!  And, go see John in Away We Go with his sexy beard.  Nice huh!

Ooo... your character smokes? Interesting. You're not a smoker yourself (if I remember correctly) so are there special types of cigarettes that you use?

Awesome that you saw the President and the First Lady. If you're still up for a Broadway show, may I suggest "9 to 5"?

Heh... nice to see that you were surprised like the rest of us about the pregnancy. Wonderful reveal and scene. Excellent acting from you and John. The "these are not for balance" scene cracked me up.

I saw Away We Go on Tuesday and it was so sweet and touching. I plan on seeing The Hangover this weekend.

Have a great weekend, Miss Jenna!

What a great night.  Wonderful play and wonderful company. August Wilson rocks!

Years ago, we had a dinner party and ex-President Ronald Reagan and Nancy Reagan came. There was a lot of security as well.  But they were a lot more lax and friendly during dinner and allowed people (these were old friends who had served together during WWII making films) to come up and visit with the Pres.

There are tons of websites with TV for you to watch. How about some "classics" or "almost classics" at TV land?

Yay to the Roseanne love. Love that show.

I still remember the episode where Roseanne tells Darlene that she buys generic cereal and just puts it in the name brand box, and I turned to my mother and said, "Ha. Even we had the name brand stuff!" ...to which my mother replied, "Ha. No. I did the same thing to you."

HAHA! First off I have to say that my brother and I watch reruns of Roseanne all the time! He actually has most of the seasons (if not all) and he's a huge fan of the show. That really made me smile/laugh when I read you watch the show and love it! That is too cool, my brother and I both LOVE Pam Beasley...and you of course! I wonder, is Jenna Fischer anything like Pam Beasley? So anyways, I'm glad you included that random Roseanne thing...awesome!!

SO awesome you watched the play with the President and First Lady, haha...lucky YOU! I loved the little photo snippet thing you used as a reference to what you saw of them...too funny! El o el. :) I'm a huge NBC News fan and have been watching the 'Inside the Obama White House' special like a hawk, it was SO exciting to not only see the inside of the Obama Administration but inside the White House...with the great people at NBC News (I love them!). It was incredible, I wonder if you watched it?

Woah! Okay, I'm outta here! Sorry for the long arse comment. I would LOVE and appreciate a reply from you. I know there are millions of other people out there who would also, so not gettin' my hopes up.

Take care, Jenna/Pam! :)

So there is for sure a pregnancy? I read that some cast members were being evasive in interviews, saying that was never 100% confirmed, just something happened in a doctors office.
I figure thats just for giggles on the actors part, bc it was obvious from the moment the x-ray tech was like, 'theres no way your pregnant, right?'

The season finale was good, but def shoulda been an hour episode! What was up with that?  I dont know who won the Volleyball game now!  =(
http://www.bestweekever.tv/2009/05/15/the-office-finale-but-who-won-the-volleyball-game/

So did you know when you got tics that the Pres was gonna be there or was that a big coincidence?

Roseanne is awesome, one of my favs too.  Except after they win the lottery, then it just got weird and felt like it had def 'jumped the shark'.  Ugh & the show ending makes me so mad everytime.

I can't wait to see The Hangover, I am really afraid thou that it may not live up to the hype I have for it in my mind, bc the trailer was sooo awesome.

I wasnt sure if I really wanted to see Away We Go from the trailer, except maybe for John, but Ive heard good reviews so far, so I prob will check it out.

Ohhhh my goshhh... spoiler.  Darn.  I haven't kept up this season because ... well, I dont know why, but my husband and I are going to catch up on all the seasons once he is home from Afghanistan.  You HOOKER!  I didn't even know you were engaged or married or nothin!  (I am kidding about the 'hooker' part - I just think it's a hilarious alternative to cussing...).

I too am addicted to Roseanne - I saw it for the first time last spring when my husband got back from Iraq and he was baffled by the fact that I had never seen it, so he order the whole series for me! And I love 'em!  I just recently replayed all of them, trying to get some laughs right after he left for his second deployment (waah wah wah).  It was for sure more real than any other show before or after it.  That's middle America, fo' rizzle :)

That is SO COOL that you got to see the President and the First Lady! I'm jealous. I went to a rally back when he was trying to beat Hillary out for the Democratic nomination and I could barely see him at all :( I was sad.

Ooh, did you have to use fakey cigarettes for your role? When I was in Oliver, I was a pickpocket and they gave us fake cigarettes to smoke onstage. We only had two each to last us several performances, haha! They were fun to play around with.

If you smoked real cigarettes, disregard that entire tangent, lol. I can rant sometimes, haha!

Glad you had fun in NY, Jenna. I hope you have a great summer as well! I am really looking forward to seeing you in 'A Little Help' - it sounds awesome :)

Some completely random Roseanne Trivia...

The creator of Roseanne, Matt Williams, graduated from the same High School I did. In fact in one episode they say my high school's name, FJ Reitz, in a radio broadcast about school closings.

Some of the cut shots, where they show various buildings...are taken in my hometown of Evansville. In fact I can take a picture of the 'Third and Delware' street sign (from those cut shots) and send it to you for proof. The 'Roseanne House' (the house they used in those cut shots) is over off Bellemeade Avenue. They get a lot of sidewalk traffic...

WOW! How fancy that you got to see a play with our President and his Lady! Can you imagine being one of the actors??? It would be such a trip as a performer to know that the President was out in the audience! *yikes*

I CANNOT WAIT to see you in A Little Help! Your role sounds meaty and so different. Did you have to learn to smoke or did you get some of that figured out as a teenager/young adult or something? Or did you do some "method acting" like you did with B.J. for The Dundies episode? Ha! ;op

YESSSS!!! Roseanne IS one of the best family sitcoms ever! I've gone through my rerun addiction and came to the same conclusion! I watched it as a kid, but was too young to appreciate it fully. I love it's REALISM- well, with the exception of them winning the lottery, I guess. But the characters are so rich.

I think it's cool you're watching them in syndication- I'm doing the same thing with That '70s Show! I happened to come across the episode with YOU in it, (you were hilarious by the way- "I'm six months pregnant! Can't you tell? I'm huge!") Anyway, I watched it because you were in it, and enjoyed the whole episode and since it's on ALL. THE. TIME. I started Tivo-ing it and became completely addicted! I ended up buying the whole damn set because I got tired of losing the continuity when they would jump around. The one-liners crack me up! I'm like, "Why did I never watch this show???" But then I feel like a weirdo because I'll say to people, "I'm really into That '70s Show!", and they're like, "Yeah, that was a funny show- 10 years ago!!!" Hey, better late than never, right?
