so there's something that's been bothering me lately. obviously when you are on the road you are showering in many different bathrooms with varying levels of cleanliness. so let's say the bar of soap falls on the ground in one of these showers...is it dirty or does it wash itself? i don't know but i'm pretty sure soap can't get dirty...let me know if anyone has any insight here.
well it's tuesday september something and i really don't feel like writing right now, but i know that there's hundreds...nay...thousands of you who run to your computers each morning hoping...praying...that there will be a new blog, so this is for you all. actually that's not entirely true, it's mostly because my mom said i had to give weekly updates so she knew if i was still alive.
back at sancho's pad here in good ole walksfelde germany. this place is like a home away from home, sort of my denver of europe! sancho was nice enough to invite me out to spend my days off before the whirlwind starts again this weekend.
quick sidenote-i know last blog i was all fired up about the whole capitalization thing but you know it's kind of labor intensive and the thrill is gone so we're gonna skip it from here on out.
ok quick update, let's see, spent last week cruising around denmark and playing every type of venue imaginable from big rooms to cafes. the people of denmark were wonderful and the weather was awful. one thing i noticed is that the entire country seems to be on the honor system. at night in the cities hundreds of unlocked bicycles lean up against the buildings. hotel clerks ask if you've payed yet and then wish you good day if you say yes without ever checking the books. everywhere you go in denmark it seems there's water. bridges, ferrys, everwhere. it's a relatively small country and it's very wierd coming from the u.s. to be able to drive from one end of a country to the other in 4 hours. so i finally met kevin the booking agent who set the whle tour up. i met up with him and several of his other artists (jimmy james, alias julius, and robbin thompson) in herning for a show. they were all super cool and great talents. it was nice to hang with some other road dogs and share some of my experiences with those who really understand what this whole thing is all about. on saturday i played for a country music club just outside of copenhagen...quite possibly one of the most memorable experiences of the tour. i stayed with alf and his wife marianne who were gracious hosts and avid coutry music fans. it was pretty bizarre being 6000 miles away from nashville and seeing people dressed in full cowboy regalia (complete with sherrif's badges and fake 6-shooters) line dancing in a community meeting center. (wait until you see the pics) ahhhhh never a dull moment and always a surprise waiting around the next corner. i love this job
speaking of pictures i have decided to wait until i get home to post the pics from the tour, ya know give you something to look forward to.
speaking of looking forward to something, the solitary portion of this tour is about over after this week. on saunday i'll be heading west (boy there's a familiar scenario) to meet up with my good buddy, ex-housemate, sometimes bandmate, and rockstar extraordinaire mr bruce kracke from the pdx. we'll be meeting in holland before heading down to belgium where bruce will be performing with me and most likely being the life of the party as he does so well. after that mary will be heading out for the finale followed by a week of r and r in spain. good things to come
the next few days i will just be hanging at sancho's writing, relaxing and hopefully going to dig hamburg tomorrow. speaking of which been writing a lot lately and i'm hoping to come home with a whole new arsenal of new tunes...all in german...just kidding
ok gotta run now the schnitzel is burning
peace
