Current mood:predicting a nap
Nine AM greetings to you all.
I've been more ore less awake since five this morning and don't really know why. I went to sleep at 1:30, and, were I in typical form, I'd still be out cold for an other two or three hours. This morning I just couldn't stop thinking. ...Thinking about arrangements for songs I'm probably going to work up, keys...(would it be better if I use an alternate tuning on the fiddle?)
I thought some more about the idea of getting back into some teaching around San Diego and LA during the months we're off the road this winter...I always improve when i'm giving fiddle lessons...
-- thought about maybe signing up for a yoga class... haven't been a part of anything like that for a long time. Haven't had enough time in one place. I thought about getting into a home routine of going to bed early and waking up before the coastal fog burns off, and riding my bike to the beach to check out the surf.
I need to get a coffee maker. My other one broke.
Our first taste of autumn came when we were in Minneapolis, but since then, there hasn't been much of a chill until today in Indiana. It's beautiful out. The sky is blue. the students are quickly walking to class in sweatshirts or t-shirts over thermals....
There might as well be a pumpkin patch right in the lawn right infront of me!
Three more shows and we're done for the year!

Been up since 445am... beat ya!

Sara, when are you gonna come out with something solo? Your voice is one of my favorites, you really should!

I've also been up since 4:45 am!

I agree with Jamie that you should do some solo stuff! I'd love to hear what you'd come up with!

Michigan is downright cold tonight...over half the state has a freeze warning in effect, with the bottom 1/3 of the mitten in a frost advisory! Winter is coming too fast! Where did summer go!? I want it back!

It hasn't seemed much like Fall here in North Carolina yet. Yesterday was probably the first day it was actually chilly and the sun was still out. I like that feeling...perfect day to play music outside.
There's a pumpkin patch in my front lawn, beside my house. Sadly, there's only one pumpkin that's on the vine.

Did you wake up because you accidentally drank from Chris's cup from DONKEY in Athens? Thanks for the wonderful long set last night!

The Bon-Shire!

I was just talking with a friend last night about moving to coastal North County here in San Diego from my current local up by Lake Cuyamaca ... do you know the excitement that would come with the possibility of running into you at a yoga studio or even just at one of the many perfect little coffee shops up there? I would just imagine that talking with you could be as comfortable as talking to any of the rest of my girlfriends. San Diego will be glad to have you back at home for a while. Are you all going to try and play Humnphreys again next summer before you "retire" or "take a break" from Nickel Creek?

The subtle change to the air that is fall in San Diego hasn't really occurred yet, maybe you'll get to catch it.

Wow... fiddle lessons by Sara from Nickel Creek. I don't know what would be better... or worse... The bragging rights of learning from such a master (mistress?), the ability to go to someone with so much experience and love for the instrument, or the stress that someone as great as you are would be the judge of skills and technique while I was just learning! That would be a severely mixed bag!! Ah, well. I'm no where near Cali, so it's a moot point.

Hey, maybe one day you'll be producing the work of your prodigy-students! Make bunches of'em so we can enjoy great fiddlin' for years to come!! See if you can find at least one of them that might be interested in the Celtic rock sort of fiddlin' that Ashley MacIsaac does. Some of your skills, even handed down, with some kickin' drums and maybe some bagpipe... *sighs* I'd appreciate it!!

Today, in Nashville, it became overcast and very cool. You can smell Fall. I wish I could have your motivation and inspiration. This is the time of year it comes to me.

Hasn't felt like Autumn here this week. Its been beautiful for my long bike rides to and from work!
And if your thinking of yoga..I highly suggest it. It opens the chakaras and alignes the body. Also have you ever thought of eating more raw foods? It has amazing benifits!! ~Check my blogs~
It is always fun to read your blogs. Good luck with the last shows of the season and I hope you get the relaxation you need to let the creativity flow.
Ohh and I want to know too when do we get to hear more of your voice?

Thanks for at great show at Purdue last night. I was the "guy in the middle who wants more music" and I was just thinking how funny it is that in my mind, you're all my friends because I get to know you through your music. So, I feel like I can heckle you a bit.

That and Chris just goes on too much about the beard.

I would totally take up fiddle if it meant I could take lessons from you.
that's like taking piano from Randy Newman!
well, you know.
And how you're surviving without a coffee maker baffles me. I suppose you could go out every morning to get coffee, but that would get awfully expensive, and no one lilkes to go out first thing in the morning (especially without coffee!)

I'd get one of those with an auto shutoff so ya dont burn the bus down. I think you might find that auto pour model, or check out Amy Grant's industrial strength gadget.

I've played guitar for years, but one day I thought it would be cool to try playing some fiddle tunes. So I dropped into Sam Ash and they recommended this Otto Jos Klier violin. Well it was really louder than anything in the store, which I thought was awesome. Later I found out Ottos been at it for over 100 years.

Yeah I'm a guy, but I'm still inspired by it! Sort of like this massive Fender Vibro-King, but right there in my ear, all flaws, or all vibros just there.

Sometimes it's like I'm pinging a fine crystal. Get this cool resonance from it. Nothing like it. I'm so inspired now: I practice for HOURS on it.

Im such a fan now. Hope you make the millions you're worth. I even hear some CSN harmony somewhere.
