At the end of my first year of high school, my history class was given a task, over the 6 week holiday we had to go away and research Robin Hood.
BRILLIANT! i thought.
and went on my merry way....Ofcourse, over the course of the holidays, i forgot, and remembered a few days before we were due to go back to school...As time ran out i sat down and did the only thing i could think of...
Robin Hood
Robin Hood stole from the rich and gave to the poor. His known associates were Little John, Friar Tuck, and his love (the love of his life) was Maid Marian. Prince John (who prefered to be known as 'King' John) hated Robin and was always trying to kill him. He was often called "The Phoney King of England". Robin's hide out was in Sherwood Forest (in Nottingham). Prince John had taken over the country while his brother, the Good King Richard was on a crusade. Disney made a cartoon/film about Robin Hood. Instead of people in it though, the characters are played by animals. In this cartoon they say "Oohdilally". Robin organises a "jail break" when he hears that Friar Tuck (who is in jail with a whole load of other people for not paying their taxes) is about to be hanged. Prince John's ever faithful side-kick is a snake called Hiss who sleeps in a crib at the end of John's bed.People dont know for sure if Robin was real or just myth but he and his friends (and enemies) are known all over, but in the end Prince John is defeated and King Richard comes back and Robin and Marian 'get hitched' and everyone gets freed from jail.
And that my friends, got me a merit, a smiley bee stamp and a "well done!"
