Here is a review of our Tunnels EP by Is This Music? Very nice indeed!Ives are one of the nations top purveyors of dark electro and alongside their Tronic night, the duo have released a few records which have cemented their position in the busy Glasgow dance scene. Recent ep release 'Tunnels' does nothing to indicate their powers are lessening and the title track not only serves as the opening song on the ep but easily stands up to comparison with most of the songs released this year. The tempo shift halfway through takes the track to a higher level and builds on the dark and relentless landscape. The sense of darkness continues throughout the rest of the tracks broken by intermittent bleeps and blops but every track retains a sense of individuality and works well over the ep length. An albums worth of material may have been too much but the length of the record has been well judged. As a short-term introduction to the act and their work, this ep does the job tremendously and deserves to be heard by a wider audience.
