After almost getting into the Just For Laughs Festival in 2000, then taking a seven-year hiatus from auditioning, it felt great to finally get the call that I was in...
As in most things Hollywood, it has a lot to do with who's behind you, which, until recently was nobody (Hollywood-wise that is)... But now that I've signed with a manager and agency, doors are starting to open pretty fast. The shows were great--too many to see--and I ran into a lot of old friends and made several new ones. It was a bit of a shmoozefest at the hotel (kind of like the Melrose Improv bar to the power of 10--for three days straight,) but I'm told that's the side of the business where I'm lacking so I guess it was a good thing to hang out all weekend... Jill came with me and had a blast. She's much more social than I am so I let her do most of the talking.
Anyhow, overall it was a great experience and if all goes well, I'm hoping to come back next year and do one of the big Gala shows. I saw John Pinette destroy in his Gala and I was just dying to get onstage--the venue is unbelievable!
