"U Can't Handle the Truth!"
(Shattering the Myths) by shockg

MYTH 1: GOOD CHRISTIANS, CATHOLICS AND OTHER "SPIRITUAL" PEOPLE DON'T DO MARIJUANA; RECREATIONALLY SMOKING WEED & DOING MUSHROOMS IS A SIN

 Really?
By being happy & enjoying the world you best honor God. Respect Jesus by honoring the natural stimulants put here by his parents, ..Jah/Allah/God/Mother Nature/The All Mighty, whatever u like to call him/her/them.

If doing Gods natural drugs is a sin, can u imagine the magnitude of evil it must be to do an advil?
Ha ha ha, can't argue that!

MYTH 2: TUPAC STARTED OUT AS A DANCER AND EVOLVED INTO A RAPPER

Please.
Pac was just touring with us (digital underground) to kill time while we shopped his demo and helped him finish his album. Money-B's brother Cullen, our original Humpty-dancer, stayed home to make room for Pac, so Pac filled in and did the dance. Yes, you could say he did this as part of his "job" but he did it mostly for fun. Everyone in our 8-person crew wanted to do the dance; it pulled the chicks after the show each night.

We signed Tupac Shakur (2Pac) to our indy label TNT records as an emcee and began working on his album in 1989. He began touring with d.u. a year later, after being bored & frustrated with waiting for us to return from tour to continue working on his project. And we were constantly shopping him the entire time, many companies passed before Interscope finally agreed to distribute him.

His "I was Shocks roadie" comment from "Resurrection" also makes my blood boil; as if the nigga carried my personal bags. He never did.
Everyone carried their own suitcases. Unloading & loading the stage equipment was the tour responsibility he speaks of, a "right of passage" to every d.u. member. We all did it for a tour or 2, including myself & Money-B on the first tours, and later it was how we initiated new blood. So did DJ Fuze, Saafir, DJ-JZ, Pee Wee, and every other d.u. member except the females. (they cleaned the bus & did the laundry; perhaps chauvinist but true)

To say that Tupac "originally started as a dancer", as many people & publications often do, not only insults his true title & essence at that time, (emcee, public activist, & social critic) but it also insults digital undergrounds awareness & recognition of who he really was at the time. Worst of all, it promotes that it's uncool to dance, like no self respecting revolutionary, "thug", or "gangsta" would be caught dancing; as if Pac graduated outta dancing into a stronger male. Nope, sorry, he was already the strong male revolutionary, with 2Pacalyspe Now recorded, BEFORE he danced with d.u. (Digital Underground).

Therefore, Tupac (2Pac) deserves even more credit for being all of the above and still remaining humble enough to contribute to d.u. as a dancer & roadie. It was his choice to do this, not an ultimatum, as his solo album was already being shopped, and as we were already committed to his project.

He also can be seen playing congas & doing background vocals onstage w/d.u. on televised Yo MTV Raps Live, and Showtime at the Apollo tapings, well after the movie Juice and his solo album was out. This is documented fact, do the research, and then do the math.

MYTH 3: DJ DARRYL PRODUCED I GET AROUND; SHOCK-G PRODUCED TEMPTATIONS.

Nope, Easy-Mo Bee produced Temptations, I just happened to be in the video.

Billboard magazine mistakenly listed I Get Around as produced by DJ Darryl the whole year it was on the charts. Just for the record, here are the songs I produced for Tupac in the order we recorded them:

1989 THRU '95:
1. Rebel of the Underground
2. Revenge of tha Lunatic
3. Words of Wisdom
4. Do For Love (acoustic piano + Pac rimin; never officially released)
5. It Ain't Necessarily So (unreleased)
6. I Get Around
7. Still Down (original version, unreleased)
8. So Many Tears
9. Fuck the World

AFTER SEPT '96 REMIXES
produced w/Numskull of the Luniz:
10. Resist the Temptation (unreleased)
11. Po Nigga Blues
12. Changes (unreleased)

CO-PRODUCED w/Richie Stites & DJ-Rizzy-Riz:
13. And 2morrow (Havenotz remix, unreleased)

MYTH 4: ONLY "SELLOUTS" OR WILD ADVENTURERS DATE BEYOND THEIR RACE

Lenny Kravitz, 50 Cent, David Bowie & Iman, Heidi Klum & Seal, Tiger Woods' parents, Obama's parents, my own parents (daddy Shock & momma Humpty), Dennis Rodman/Carmen Electra, Sean Combs/Jennifer Lopez/Ben Affleck, Hugh Grant/Divine Brown, Woopie Goldberg, Ted Dansen, and Madonna aren't the only people who enjoy inter-racial relationships. A couple of less known others are:

> Robert Deniro (African American wife & daughter)

> Clint Eastwood (Mixed-American wife)

> Tupac Shakur (several European American a.k.a. "white" girlfriends;
before/during/and after digital underground)

The importance of not hiding these truths is that concealing them perpetuates racial divides. Many fans & other people with impressionable minds viewed Clint Eastwood as a traditionally "white"
western hero; Deniro as the tuff New York City Italian purest, and Tupac as a strict "black" revolutionary; all of whom would never seriously date beyond their own race, a public image which contributes to negative stereotypes and further alienates the races.
Promote harmony within the mighty & beautiful HUMAN race, and forever let the truth be known: people are people.

People often joke about successful African American men "selling out" or "betraying their race" by enjoying the company of a woman of European or Asian descent, but seldom do we acknowledge the fact that interracial dating seems to be a pastime of successful people in general.

Perhaps outstanding accomplishments & financial success grants one the confidence, the freedom, the privacy, and/or the courage, to follow ones heart and explore the world more freely? ..without the usual trappings & scorn from the many suppressed people who lack the courage or resources to follow their own hearts?

Society (thru school, film, TV, and other media), tends to teach us to date people who are mirror images of ourselves; it's part of how the people in power control us and remain in power. But, if we rise above the minds of men, we find that Father God and Mother Nature are happy with us dating whoever we are most attracted to, like the rest of the animal community does. Anyone who needs proof of this should conduct the following experiment: Put your dog or cat in heat in a room with a male dog or cat the opposite color, and then tell them "Wait, don't hook up yet, wait for somebody your own color."
Your pet will look at you like you're crazy.

Okay, what happens in Vegas is supposed to stay in Vegas, but while we're on the subject, let's review another interesting fact:
If you interview a "black" working girl at any of the brothels & escort agencies of Nevada, you will find that the majority of their customers are married "white" male conservatives by day, but chocolate nookie lovers by night.

Hee hee, and it's the same with all the other "colors" too.
("Hey, I was born an apple, but I just wanna see what an orange feels like")
HUMAN. That's how we all feel.

Okay, let's go, mix it up out there!

God created many types of barriers. One of the most talk about are Racial barriers. For example there is a Black man and a Black woman and also a White man and White woman. I wonder if these four persons are smart enough to realize their complementary match. I mean if that Black man were to choose the White woman he would genetically replace his race rather kind with a mix kind so that wouldn't be smart or good choice to make. Now if the White man were to choose a Black female the result are the same. But if the Black man choose a Black woman then he is showing love for his image and his woman which God created for him and that could only lead to greater happiness and order. And if the White man do the same then he shows love for his woman and his image also lead to greater happiness and order. Some people choose to cross racial barriers but I choose to cross more important barriers. God blesses those who knows which barriers to cross and which to avoid. I am proud to say I am not a mix up man.

Ran,
Interesting viewpoint, and very well stated. Respect.

However, as a Multiracial Mixed-American, I'm sure glad my parents (and Tiger Woods' parents, and Obama's parents, and Prince's parents, and Kobe Bryant's parents) didn't think that way, or else I wouldn't be here, atleast not as genetically strong & diverse as I am now.
For instance: My African ancestry gives my skin sun tolerance, while my European ancestry gives me lactose tolerance. My immune system has the increased benefit of both. Because of my racial diversity, I'm comfortable with more people and compatible with more environments than a person who is only of African, Asian, or European decent.
Prince with his music, or Obama with his politics, both have the advantage of traits from both sides of the fence, which only broadens their perspectives, and increases the amount of people they can relate to.

I believe God would rather us branch out, that's why she rewards us with increased abilities & strengths; and why she punishes us for dating too close to home (retardation and birth defects; research the causes).
It's way less chance we'll accidently marry our own cousins the further away from home we date.

More proof that nature rewards us for this can be explained in the essence of why opposites attract, everywhere we look in the Universe, from electricity to living organisms. Positive + negative, male + female, etc; there's always a reward. (..the baby, or the fact that your car starts)

And lastly, me personally, I don't believe that God created the racial differences to begin with, environment did. Yes, she may have created life itself, but human beings are just animals, growths, that began as simple life forms a few billion years ago, and grew from there. We're just another type of primate, we're the oldest monkeys on the planet, thus, the most developed brains.
Europe grew people with thinner lips & noses to survive the cold weather (it prevented a brain-freeze with each breath, and lip cracking from exposure). Africa and other equatorial continents grew people with dark melanin-rich skin as protection from the sun, and so forth. Ever notice that the other primates of each region also have the same distinctions as we do? Chimps have light skin & thin limps, while gorillas from further south have dark skin and wider features. Orangutans, from asia, look kinda Chinese, no?  Environmental conditions shaped us over the years.
God/Mother Nature/Life itself couldn't care less who we date, as long as life continues.

Ok Ran, I just happened to have read the passage in the Bible where that almighty one said to his(self) let us confound their tounges. So we were gittin too heathen and needed to b smacked to the 4 winds. OK. A new wind is a blowin man. This human race will be lucky to make it no matter what shade you are. I don't givea hoot what kind of female I have to ride out the apocalyspe with as long as she likes me. When one matures enough to respect all cultures then ya made it. I see this in action evey time I go see the Schwag at their Camp Zoe. If you need lessons, bring your behind to one of the Schwagstocks or preferably Spookstock down in the Ozark Hills. It clued me in. I can take a punch so bring it homes.

""SPIRITUAL" PEOPLE DON'T DO MARIJUANA; RECREATIONALLY SMOKING WEED & DOING MUSHROOMS IS A SIN"

Biggest misconception EVER.
There are even religions based on "the tree of life" (AKA "the green", "the herb", etc. - which is a SACRAMENT), and it's even scripturally listed under Genesis 1:12(Christianity).
I think the real sin is NOT using these plants - or using them as a scapegoat for a pointless "war on drugs" that costs billions, and does nothing but piss recreational users off/puts them in jail.

Thanks Shock for giving knowledge and showing love to all your fans through enlightenment other than being just another entertainer with a MySpace page. I also HAVE to give props on breaking the myths on interracial relationships. I have a blog on Mildred Loving who is from my state of VA who passed away not too long ago who took her case to the Supreme Court and because of her and her husband, made it unconsitutional to ban or make interracial marriage or relationships illegal. I love ALL women; every one is sexy and beautiful in one way or another, but to have the choice to be with who you LOVE regardless of their ethnic background is something we kind of take for granted now. Peace, Love, and Humptiness forever baby.........Montana

Hey Shock,

Danyel Smith over at Vibe, told a story about the first time she heard "Brenda". Pac played it for her on Dat (lol wow, dat) and no one believed it was him. Everyone was like "wow, you came up with this?"

Just a good memory she had.

She says you guys still talk. Both of you are great people.

I hope all is well. Love the blog entry.
