Today we submitted the following op-ed message to Unity08.com for their request for submissions regarding the question...

Why do we need a Unity Ticket in 2008?

The Unity08 ("Unified") and Purple People Power ("Purple") position or perspective is that we are all one and that profoundly important issues can not be grouped with other issues and split between two polarized political parties. Each issue must be addressed separately according to its own specific merits. Life is NOT a RED (Republican) or BLUE (Democrat) choice but rather the "Purple" application of wisdom and knowledge according to a person's own individual experience IN RELATION TO the experience of everyone else. "If you have the choice of ONLY two options then choose a THIRD option." A Purple or Unified position represents the TRUE majority.

Pro-Life/Pro-Choice

An example of a Purple or Unified position in regard to Abortion is that pro-life and pro-choice can exist simultaneously if people understand that they do not need to take the life of an unborn child and that if they truly do not want to or are otherwise unable to take care of the child that they can "Safe Surrender" the child to an appropriate agency like a hospital, fire station, or police station anonymously. If you call one of these agencies they will even come to you if necessary.

Socialism, Capitalism, & Healthcare

An example of a Purple or Unified position in regard to either working for the state/government or working for oneself or chosen corporate entity (socialistic vs. capitalistic) is that each individual person should have the choice of having everything provided for them including healthcare at a minimal level of subsistence in exchange for a particular type of work, or, to work for oneself or the employer of their choice and receive the level of subsistence of their own particular personal need or desire and choose their own healthcare provider.

Homosexuality/Gender Ambiguous/Gay Marriage

An example of a Purple or Unified position in regard to gay, homosexuality, and/or same-sex marriage is that if we realize that different people have different combinations of male and female organs, hormones, genes, DNA, etc. and that each outward manifestation or appearance of a human being may be different than what is actually on the inside then who is to say what gender a person actually is so as to deny that person partnership with the specific other person of their choice? Some people with breasts and a vagina ALSO have internal testes. Some people with a penis ALSO have internal ovaries. It is time that we recognized our individual unique differences and understand that we are all ONE in our respective uniquenesses.

Better Explanations

We ALL need to endeavor to explain ourselves better as well as listen to the needs and experiences of other people as a means of understanding the totality of the situation and to allow our collective genius to provide the solutions that benefit ALL of us.
