‘Buy My Record’ – single release June 8th 2009....

 ....

David Saw is a songwriter’s songwriter, respected and admired by fellow
musicians (including Ray Davies, Carly Simon, Robert Cray, Jimmy Webb, Eric
Bibb, Paul Carrack, Chris Difford, Patti Griffith, Gary Go and Judie Tzuke with
whom he has toured and/or recorded) but, until now, almost unknown outside
those circles. “Until now” as, with the release of his sophomore album ‘Broken
Down Figure’, that state of relative, and blissful, obscurity looks set to
change.....

.. ..

It was Fairground Attraction’s Mark Nevin, on hearing some of David’s
songs, who encouraged him to leave the safety, and constraints, of his band to
go it alone. A chance meeting with fellow musician Ben Taylor in London’s
Ginglik club led to him relocating to Martha’s Vineyard to stay with Ben and
his mother Carly Simon. Soon he was so much a part of the Simon-Taylor family
that David moved in to a room in the family home, whilst Ben himself lives in a
house twelve paces away. ‘Quiet Evening’, the first song that David wrote as a
16 year old living in Aylesbury, was later recorded by Carly Simon for her
acclaimed 2007 album ‘Into White’ and it was this song that the three played for
Bill and Hillary Clinton.....

.. ..

“I was lucky enough to be invited to Bill Clinton's
birthday with Carly and Ben. We played ‘Quiet Evening’ and  I spoke to both Bill and Hillary after and
they said they loved the song which was so nice, plus Hillary sent me a thank
you letter saying how much she enjoyed the song which I thought was very sweet.
Bill Clinton is one of the coolest dudes I have met
....

.. ..

Recorded in Britain and America, David is joined on some of ‘Broken Down
Figure’s’ songwriting duties by friends Judie Tzuke, Gary Go and Eric Bibb. The
resulting album is one of
beautifully
arranged melodies, captivating vocals, exceptional musicianship and honest
lyrics as he sings about life, relationships, love lost and never received,
broken hearts and rescued romance. The album is produced by David, Ben Taylor
and Larry Ciancia
(Fiona
Apple, Everlast, Ray LaMontagne) - the trio also produced Ben’s latest album
‘The Legend Of Kung Folk’ and are co-producing Carly Simon’s new album.
....

.. ..

Whilst in the studio recording the album David’s highest priority was
that no unnecessary production be placed in the way of the song. He sums this
up in ‘Simple Song’ when he writes “I
love you like a melody, you’re running through my head. I love you like a
simple song, you always sound the best”.
....

.. ..

The first single ‘Buy My Record’ is a
slight departure from the softer material, bringing a fun, upbeat energy to the
album, with drunken piano tones and upright bass lines. “It is a fun song to play and it always goes down well live. It’s slightly
ironic now as record stores are almost redundant”.....

 ....

David will be on a UK tour with Benjamin
Taylor in April: ....

Mon 20, Fleece & Firkin, Bristol....

Tue 21, Glee Club, Birmingham....

Thu 23, Lowry Theatre, Salford ....

Fri 24, ABC, Glasgow....

Sat 25, Bodega, Nottingham....

Sun 26, Union Chapel, London....
