Current mood:  sleepy
Category: Quiz/Survey
... being thankful that the week is at a close.

... Happy Hour!

... staying up late and then sleeping in on Saturday.

... dragging yourself into work, tired and sleepy because your upstairs neighbors awakened you far earlier than normal with carpentry-like sounds of pounding on the floor. Irritated and wide awake anyway, I leaped out of bed and pounded my fist on the wall. I hadn't expected it to reverberate as loudly as it did, but they got the message. The pounding was reduced to rhythmic tapping before dissipating. I am soooo glad that in just a couple short weeks, we move out of there and into an UPSTAIRS unit, where we won't have to contend with lead-footed neighbors anymore.

It was 2.5 years ago that we moved. Those of you who have been reading my blog that long might remember the first time I ranted about the neighbors. If not, allow me to refresh your memory:

... oh, and Friday Fives!

1. What drink wakes you up best in the morning?
2. During the day, what do you drink to keep going?
3. Do you drink the recommended 8 glasses of water per day? Why/why not?
4. What are the ingredients of your favorite mixed drink? (Doesn't have to be alcoholic!)
5. Are you a coffee drinker? How do you take your coffee, if so?

♥ Tortuga ♥

As a sidenote, this set of Friday Fives captured my attention when I saw the "wake up" in the first line-- something that fit in perfectly with my little neighbor-related rant.

1. A nice steaming hot cup of tea-- either black or green.

2. Tea and water. During lunch I have V-8 and apple juice.

3. Yes. A water dispenser is just around the corner from my cube, so I often get up during the day to refill my (14 oz) mug. I usually chug at least 4-5 mug fulls at work. Plus a bottle of juice at lunch, and another cup or two of water/juice in the evenings at home... it all adds up quite nicely!

4. Well, since my non-alcoholic mainstays are tea and water, the only "mixed" drinks I drink ARE alcoholic! Truthfully, anything with coffee liqueur or chocolate liqueur are tops in my book :-)

5. That would be a big resounding NOOOOO. Coffee has never done anything for me. When I would be roused out of a slumber at 3:30am to practice our rapid deployment drills in the Army, I'd chug a mug of it-- and still fall asleep at my desk. And that's not the worst of it. Anyone remember my blog entry detailing my coffee mishaps? Read on...

Oh, I remember those golden days 2 1/2 years ago. Yipe! Has THAT much time really gone by already. How crazy.

Friday 5's, which I actually thought about doing today too, just swiping something from that site you sent me the link too, but I guess I won't now, would be a little redundant! :~)

1. Mountain Dew.

2. Moutain Dew or Pepsi. I'm not much of a Coke drinker.

3. No. As weird as this sounds, water does not quench my thirst. When I am really thirsty, I have to have pop or juice of some kind. I have been drinking more of those Propel Fitness Water thingies lately, the ones that are flavored, and those do a good job of making me not thirsty, but for the most part, it's pop. Evil evil pop.

4. Well, the only mixed drinks I have are alcoholic, everything else is pretty much straight forward. Apple pucker and sprite or slice is a good one, as is a Slow Comfortable Screw, which is Sloe Gin, Orange Juice, and Souther Comfort. :~)

5. No. I hate coffee. I can fill a cup halfway with milk, a quarter of the way with sugar, and top it off with coffee, and I still can't stand the flavor.

Heh, reminds me of the time I poured and poured sugar into my coffee, and someone observed with: "Would you like some coffee with your sugar?" I can't stand the flavor, either. I do, however, LOVE the smell of it!

I think your body's just so used to consuming soda that it craves it and anything else just won't do. When I was about 10, my parents almost started down that slippery slope of pop addiction. It was a hot day and my mom was thirsty, she drank some water and went "bleah", reaching for the Coke instead. That's when she realized that she was starting to get hooked on it, and immediately stopped before it got worse. I'll bet that if you forced yourself to drink water instead of soda, you'd start seeing that eventually it will quench you as it should... soda is just another habit/addiction you can break.

Yes, but it tastes so GOOD! You can't break a habit that you don't WANT to break, hehehe.

Besides, if I stopped consuming mountain dew in the A.M., I'd just have to start taking caffiene pills or something.

Our bodies---such fickle things. And the product makers know it!

Yes, yes they do. The stuff that tastes so good is almost always so bad for us. I remember once admonishing Todd that candy was not good for him. His response? "But it's good for my tongue!"

I've learned long ago you can never argue against Todd's logic. You have to admit, he's right-- candy may not be good for your health, but your tongue sure loves it!

You're going to think I'm crazy...

1. Water?
2. Water
3. I don't know how much I drink, but it's a lot!! I worked for a place that supplied good drinking water and I've been hooked ever since.
4. Rum and Coke.. or Pepsi rather
5. Coffee always gives me a stomach ache or makes me jittery. I prefer my coffee without the heat and filtered coffee grounds ;)

Just wait until you move into a place where you don't have to contend with any vertical neighbors. The last place I lived was essentially a townhome and now I live in a house.. it's so nice not having to deal with neighbors.. although roommates can be annoying especially if they've got their girlfriend over!

Not so crazy-- I drink mainly water and a couple cups of tea. And get plenty for the same reason-- easy access to drinking water at work!

Thankfully, the new place we're moving to was built in 2003, so it's bound to have better insulation than our current building, which was built in the 50s. I can hear our upstairs neighbor pee! And we once had a next-door neighbor whose snoring just about shook the walls. Fortunately he only stayed a couple months.

The joys of apartment living. I can't wait to get a house.

I know, it's nuts-- no emails, and when you go to your homepage there's no "New Blog Posts!" notification either! I've taken to manually visiting my blog subscriptions page everyday.

The neighbor woes get worse-- Sunday night I was jarred awake at 2am by what I thought was a plane roaring overhead. We live close to the airport, it happens frequently, so I didn't think much of it (not realizing that planes don't usually FLY at this time of night!) and started to go back to sleep when the noise suddenly stopped, and I could hear the sounds of the neighbors noisily tidying up and getting ready for bed. Allan later told me that sound was of them rolling a suitcase. Do they not stop to consider that with thin walls and and old wooden "walkway" upstairs, the noise would reverbate quite well throughout the entire building!?

I've always wondered what was in a sangria! What's in it, exactly?

And what's a "double double"?

mine are hit or miss-- some show up, some don't. at least the blog subscription page is reliable, if inconvenient to have to visit manually!

"gaseosa"-- makes me laugh. Sounds more like a disease than a beverage.

It sounds like it would be delicious with strawberries... mmm.... now my mind is racing with the possibilities ;-)

We're going to hang out with some friends this evening, making crepes. We're bringing some dessert wines and fresh blueberries for filling... just to continue on with the fruit and wine themes :-D

Thank you for the suggestion to look at your blogs from 2005. I'm still rolling on the ground from reading the replies. Those 80's films probably came from his Dad. Good way to take one's mind off of today's earthquake.
Love Todd's grandmother.
