Sadly friends and family, today marked the final full day of creativity and ingenuity after being stationed down here in the boundless beauty of Baltimore. As previously stated, we have been slaving over some fantastical new musical arrangements with the one and only Paul Leavitt. Who, hitherto, will be referred to as 'The Master Of Sarcasm And Pessimism' or 'MOSAP' for short. haha. But in all seriousness, his slightly derrogatory banter has been the single most motivating factor in unleashing our inner shred! Technically speaking, Neil is the only member of our band diagnosed with ADD... or ADHD, but I'm informed that it is not unusual for people to proceed through there lives unaware that they too possess this deficiency. I'd be willing to bet the rest of us fit this latter category.... That being said, as a result its not always easy for us to be 100% productive in a studio setting. Even though we are slightly behind schedule, I'm sure without the all powerful MOSAP in charge, I'd still be trying to figure out what language the word 'tempo' orignated from, or some mundane fact of that nature...
We polished up guitars earlier this afternoon, and put a significant dent in the remainder of the vocal tracks, but I think neil drank too much Arizona iced tea and was feeling a little too bloated to knock the proverbial 'ball' out of the proverbial 'park' metaphorically speaking. In this case the ball would probably be more accuratly described as invisible sonic reverberations, and the park better defined by micro-condenser-recording mechanisms. Needless to say, we'll be back tomorrow to put the final touches on, and maybe do a little experimenting.
I found an Iphone application that you can play the Ocarina ( mystical musical device made famous by none other than the fabricated entity named ZELDA). I was thinking a little electronically simulated woodwind action might be exactly what was called for!
We have enjoyed our time thoroughly with the MOSAP and are delighted to share the product of our labours with you in the near future. December 1st to be exact! So get stoked, and stay tuned for more updates as that date perpetually becomes nearer to being the present!
I'd like to especially thank Sadie and Cameron, or dynamic canine duo for comforting us in moments of discouragment and lifting our spirits with a lick of their tongues and a wag of their tails. Haha. I'm personally awfully fond of these hairy creatures we call dogs and was ecstatic to share the studio space with a couple of them.... And I think it helped Barry through some of the separation anxiety he was experiencing on account of the absence of his puppy 'Sundae'. We left that little fur-ball back in Canada before our 47 hour drive to the east coast. I think I caught Barry weeping last night because he missed her so much. Haha, just kidding....
One more thing, If you ever find your way to Maryland, make a stop at the Blue Moon Cafe. I might have had one of the best breakfasts of my life a couple days ago at this breathtaking bistro. Not to discount my own mother's ability to create french toast, but they baked Cap'n Crunch cereal into theirs... and lathered it in whipped cream and syrup and blueberries. Just typing this is seriously acitivating my salivary glands... I'm drooling all over the place....
Now, in conclusion, I command each and every one of you to go check out our Youtube Channel! We've been talking about regularly uploading video blogs for over a year, and have been desperate to keep you all a little more in the loop... so here goes... there are 5 or 6 brand new clips up to keep you entertained! Expect a steady flow from here on out! www.youtube.com/kirosband
