Love London Blog - Love London, Love Your Planet

Issue 1

The Love London Festival runs from the 1st to the 21st of June 2008

***************************************************************************

Welcome. This is the first Love London 2008 e-Bulletin which aims to keep you up to date with the progress of the festival, new ideas and events, as well as about how you can take part.

Love London is an annual festival of events focussing on the environment and sustainability, promoting action in local communities and grass roots organisations to tackle the issues that the events raise. Love London integrates of hundreds of events run by a range of organisations, individuals and authorities, who work together to make a difference in our capital.

Update

The Love London sustainability weeks have been confirmed to run from the 1st to the 21st of June. So far we have over 60 events confirmed, many within the last month, showing good response from communities, businesses and authorities to Love London and its campaign to make London more sustainable.

We will soon be updating our website; we are hoping to achieve improved functionality as well as many new features. We will post further updates in the next Love London e-Bulletin.

Love London is currently confirmed to be sponsored by the Co-operative, Ecover, Evolve, GLA, LandSecurities, London Zoological Gardens, Planet DIY and Zipcar.

Events

This year we hope to engage more people than ever in sustainability, and are encouraging people to take part by offering free publicity for your event in material such as our booklet, leaflets and website, as well as the chance to be part of a London wide campaign that was covered in Newspapers, Radio and TV in 2007. We also offer training at our 25th March Pre-Launch event, as well as resources from our websites, www.lovelondon.org.uk, www.londongreenmap.org, and www.london21.org.

As an events organiser we may also be able to offer you volunteers for your event, free eco-goodies. an invite to the Love London 2008 launch at London Zoo, as well as the chance to win one of our £500 grants, which is detailed below.

We are always looking for new events, please contact us with your event details, or enter your event on our website - www.lovelondon.org.uk. We accept events of all sizes, and we require that they focus in some way on sustainability or the environment, and must involve community involvement.

Most of the larger events of Love London have been confirmed, including Camden Green Fair, Kingston Green Fair, Big Green Borough Day, and festivals such as Greenfest West London, and the Wandle Valley Festival.

We have also had many community groups and organisations confirm they will be running the smaller events that are essential for engaging grass-roots action in the community, which is at the heart of our campaign.
