Protest, vigils, demonstrations have sprung up all over California because people are PISSED at the passing of Prop 8 and rightly so. We're tired of being treated like second class citizens but expected to pay our taxes and do all the things that "first class" citizens are required to do.

Emotional reactions have ranged from diplomatic press releases from GLAAD and other high profile GLBT organizations to ACTUP style guerilla tactics that haven't been seen in 15/20 years (blocking traffic and screaming.. lots and lots of screaming).

The most interesting response was from a group on Facebook that is urging all members of the GLBT community to 'secede' from American life on Monday January 19th, 2009 so that straight people will notice how much difference we make in their day to day lives. Me, I'm planning on taking that day off anyway to dance on the grave of George W. Bush's presidency (don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out, George) and then the next day off, January 20th, 2009 to celebrate a breath of fresh air as Obama gets sworn in.

Tonight, Saturday November 8th, 2008, there are I'm sure many protests planned but the one that I know about for certain starts at the corner of Sunset Blvd and Santa Monica Blvd in Los Angeles at 6pm. If you're in Southern California there's nothing else that should be a higher priority.

An acquaintance of mine went to the 2000 March on Washington 'for the good parties' and it barely registered that the whole point of the event was political. Please don't be like this guy because it's embarrassing to hear a well educated upper middle class white fag be so stupid.

Honest to God, I know that much of this blog reaches a lot of Californians….. cancel your Saturday night dinner and throw away your theatre tickets to 9 TO 5 (the Ahmanson Theatre, by the way, gave TONS of money to the Yes on 8 people… sorry Dolly, we're taking our dollars elsewhere) and go protest.

Even if you're not a big protest person, go anyway, because.. well because no matter how much money you make or how nice your clothes are, people that hate us are still going to hate you because you suck dick. And that's the facts. We need to make our voices heard!

Speaking of which, if you're in Chicago, go to http://www.gayliberation.net/home.html for information on a protest TONIGHT Saturday November 8th at the Museum of Broadcast Communications. They've decided to honor, of all people, James Dobson, the Religious Right whack job who threw bunches of money towards the Yes on 8 folks. Protestors can find their peeps in front of the Reaissance Hotel located at 1 W. Wacker Drive in Chicago. See website for all the details. (thanks to Alan for this info)

Then, next Saturday, November 15th, there's a simultaneous  NATIONWIDE Prop 8 protest http://www.jointheimpact.com starting at 10:30 am PST and 1pm EST that you yes YOU need be a part of. You can't go to California, fine, go to the Join the Impact site and find out where it's going to happen in your city because it's really time that we got it together. We cannot let hate win. For New Yorkers, join the NY Facebook group at

Meanwhile, if you wanna buy a good protest t shirt, I recommend this site http://www.darylvocat.com/propaganda Some of the stuff is a little scary and over board but click on t shirts and the top shirt is sure to amuse you. Buy and wear.

I've come across a couple of really great blogs about this … you can read them yourself (and leave comments.. give them your support!!)

There's more but I think that's enough for one day…. Meanwhile, as Emma Goldman said, "If I can't dance – I don't want to be part of your revolution" so when you're emotionally spent, go out and dance a few rounds … here in New York, there's the infamous Furball at the GLBT Center tonight (208 W. 13th Street from 8pm til all hours of the morning). Nearly a thousand guys will be roaming the entire center throughout the evening; this is not something to miss!!

You can find some pretty cool Goldman quotes here.. and there are some keepers. http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/authors/e/emma_goldman.html

Politics today, porn tomorrow…!
