Just ask Terry Smith:
issue raised by a reader seeking the truth
Ms Terry: I don't understand why this man I dated for ten months, broke up with me. The last five months of the relationship, we never spent a night apart. It was love on my part and I really believed he felt the same. I introduced him to all my friends, and sometimes one or more of them would go out with us, including my next-door neighbor. Then suddenly it was like he forgot my number. He didn't return calls and I couldn't find him. His home phone was changed to an unlisted number, and his cell was never answered.
A week ago, I ran into him at our favorite nightspot. He was at a table in a back corner with my next-door neighbor. What was crazy to me is, I thought that my boyfriend felt uncomfortable around him, because he is gay.
It has been six months now and I'm dating again, but nobody can top him. My friends tell me to get on with my life, but I need some answers. Should I try to find him and confront him with the "Why's?"
Ms. Blind-sight: Okay, here is a case of another down low lover man and a blind-sighted woman –is he or isn't he 'in the closet'. Was your mind on vacation for ten months? You "thought" he felt uncomfortable around your gay neighbor? Trust me, if your gay neighbor sensed that your man was uncomfortable, he would not have stuck around. Call me a cynic, but I just can't believe that your "Whys" weren't answered the night you saw them together. Next!
