Well it's winter break and I'm thinking about school. From classes to different activites that I'm apart of; it feels like there's so much going on. One thing that I'm trying to figure out is how this chapter of NSCS is going to turn out this year.
I totally agree with all of you in saying that you know nothing about this organization. When I first joined, I did it for the recognition. I wanted something to add onto my resume. It wasn't until this year, when I became an officer, that I realized it wasn't enough just to have a name on my resume. Anybody can have NSCS on their resume but it is what you say about it that would impress hiring managers.
I recently applied for a public relations internship at the Portland Rose Festival. I was able to use my NSCS experiences to strengthen my chances of getting that internship.
Listening to NSCS's scholar ambassador and what he said about other chapters in this organization, I'm real excited about the potential that Portland State has. It's a different type of university (commuter), but it's right in the heart of downtown Portland with numerous opportunities to network and provide service.
I'm excited that with all your help, we can set up this chapter to become one of the best for the years to come.
