Happy St. Patty's Day!

Check out Pretty Tough today for an article about softball superstitions - http://prettytough.com/softball-shamrocks-and-superstitions/.

Do you have a good luck routine? As a coach, I never step on chalk lines and always keep everything the same once we win our first game - whether it's the clothes I wear, hair style, sunglasses, etc. In my writing life, I have the same routine before each new novel - a new notebook, character sketches, mag pics, etc. Plus, I don't share a word until I'm done the first draft and two sets of revisions. Also, I have to write at the same time each morning. Wait a second.. I sound seriously crazy ;)

What's your good luck routine? Or do you have any superstitions?

when i get ready for a game i always put my cleats on before my sliders and when i hit i have to take two practice swings and i tap the top of my helmet before i step into the batters box

my superstitions- i never step on the field (except for infield warmups when my coach makes me) before a game and my team always does the same cheer in the beginning of the game

You're not weird at all, Danni! :)

Thanks for posting about your superstitions. Love it! Especially tapping the helmet.

Lauren :)

I have a lot of superstitions now that I think about it! :) I braid my hair and use the same softball ribbon every game. I also use bright yellow prewrap even though it doesn't match my uniform at all. Before every game I put my left sock on before my right, and then slip on my right cleat before my left. Once my team wins the first game of the season, I never tie my cleats again. I just slip them on and off for the whole season. The last game I played in before my first surgery my shoe lace came undone in the middle of the inning. I was pitching so I decided to tighten it up for some odd reason and completely ruin my superstition. Usually when it come untied, I just keep the knot and tie another bow.
(I have major knots by the end of the season in my laces lol)

We were winning 6-2, but then everything went down hill and we lost the game. It wasn't like we didn't do well, there was just so many flukes it was unbelivable! To this day I swear it's because I tied my cleat! lol I also touch the dirt at the begining of every inning, but just when I'm pitching. When we come in to bat, I take a ball and do 7 flips into my glove. (7 is my lucky number =] ) My last superstition is this weird cheer my team does at the begining and end of each game. We've been doing it since 5th grade when we formed the team. It's pretty funny because now that I think of it, every single person on my team has some sort of superstition. I have no idea whether they work or not, but it's sort of fun to even just pretend they do.
lol :)
