My dream was basically in Cloverfield handy-cam style visuals.
I was up on Mt. Tabor with tori and a couple other people when we here this great rumbling noise that shook the ground. We looked around like "What the hell?" when finally Tori says, "Look at downtown!" I don't see anything, just a bunch of tall buildings and sky scrapers in the haze, like always. She then says, "I know, it looks like anything else downtown until you really look. It's enourmous!" I look again and I see it.
At first it looks like a sky scraper, until I realize it's even taller than the hills above downtown and looks to be made out of thousands of smaller technicolor domiciles and domes, giant fusion engines still steaming. It must be at least as tall as the empire state building and comes to a crystal-tipped point at the very top.
After just a few moments of staring in awe, we're shocked even further to see the crystal light up and beams of light shoot out of it in all directions. One of the beams hits a nearby house and instead of exploding like we'd expect a building hit by a laser beam to do, the house lifts of the ground and turns very vribrant shades of blue and purple. The bottom folds of the siding on the house extend out and begin flapping and it flies off to assimilate itself with the skyscraper spacecraft. The handycam vision zooms in on the craft and tons of psychadelic houses and schools and office buildings fly to it and seem to fuse onto the side of it. Birds are flying everywhere around it and landing on top of the now-attached vessels of the ship like it were any other building on the street.
Another house near us is hit by a beam and there are people jumping out of the windows screaming and on fire as the building rises into the air and flaps off to become one with the alien ship. A giant brightly colored manta ray flies over our heads. A closer look reveals that it's made of cloth and steal and flies off to join the mass migration. I look down the street and see that that giant circus tent that was there simply is no longer.
After witnessing all of this my friends and I decide to get to the TV station to see if this is happening anywhere else in the room. Tori drives us there and upon entering see that every employee is running about to get the news about what's happening in a mass media frenzy. All of the TV screens were tuned to different news sources and infact, this was happening all over the world.
In Moscow a giant mountain-sized flying multi-colored flying-castle had an Empyrial onion dome on top of it. The Empyrial Palace itself was now a giant vacant lot.
In Chicago, another flying sky-scraper was assimilating a giant safety orange spire of equal side to the side of it. The Sears Tower was NOT where it was supposed to be.
A shorter, squat ship was parked in the english channel, now sporting a giant seafoam clock tower on top. Big Ben had moved onto bigger and better things.
I run back outside to see the entrance area was a blazing inferno. I suppose this is what it looks like from the inside of a building that is being added to the vibrant interstellar compound. I ran for the doors and struggled very hard as my boots were sinking into molten cement. I managed to escape back through the front doors and took my immediate left to a staircase that led underground. I found two kids in an elevator trying to get it to get it to do exactly what came out of my mouth at the instant I ran into the elevator: "We need to go as deep underground as possible."
Flash forward a couple hundred years later to a giant tower stretching from the earth's surface all the way out into space. It picks up a signal and shows us the image of a mountain-sized craft made of technicolor buildings making its way towards Earth. The ships had pretty much taken every building in every major city they could before leaving. And now they were returning once again for more.
Any towns and cities that were left standing were abandoned. Everyone lived underground now. I lived inside of Mount Hood with 3 million other people and things pretty much looked the same. There were shops, streets, office buildings and thanks to the future's advancements in video technology, a slightly cloudy sky above. Of course, the sky was actually just a giant screen projecting what thousands of small cameras on the surface were looking at.
The sky above us was blotted out as the flying mountain-building landed on the surface just outside of what used to be the Portland Metropolitan Area. It was just as tall as Mt. Hood and still had a light-rail MAX train rolling around a spiraling track that went from the bottom all the way to the top. It sent out beams scanning for any other buildings it could acquire when a beam of light hits it square in the center, near what looked to be a football arena covered in turquoise crystal. The beams stop instantly and the massive ship begins to collapse in on itself.
Over the past couple hundred years we'd developed a weapon solely used for invading forces from beyond the stars. The giant tower we use to pick up transmissions and signals from inter-stellar crafts houses this weapon. It uses a beam of light to transport a... basically reverse nuke. Like a contained black hole or neutron star. When it's set off, it sucks up everything within a specific range and compresses it to a ball no larger than a tennis ball.
We saw this happen all over the planet, to further enhanced versions of the ships that left our cities in ruins hundreds of years before.
We rejoiced and went about our business as if it happened all the time. And I guess it sort of did. :B
I think there was acid in the hot tub and the beer that I had consumed the previous night. Or something. xD
