WELL, FOR ANYONE WHO HASN’T HEARD, EMORY BROKE HIS LEFT ARM ON THRUSDAY THE 27TH OF MARCH. HE HAD SURGERY ON THE 28TH TO PIN THE BONES TOGETHER. HE IS IN A FULL ARM CAST. HE BROKE HIS ARM PLAYING ON A TRAMPOLINE - GO FIGURE. HE THOUGHT THE AMBULANCE RIDE WAS LIKE BEING IS A SPACESHIP-I THINK THE MORPHINE WAS PALYING WITH HIS MIND.
HE IS HOME A FEELING A LITTLE BETTER. YESTERDAY HE FINALLY GOT UP AND STARTED MOVING AROUND A BIT. WE HOPE HE WILL GO BACK TO SCHOOL TOMRROW.
WE WILL KEEP YOU POSTED ON HIS PROGRESS.
Yesterday was a good day for Emory. He went all day with out the lortab, which I must say help with his walking skills. He spent a few hours outside playing. He played with his friends and when Dad went to check on him he was in his snow sled trying to slide down the grass hill in our front yard, next he was caught climbing up the slide with one arm and trying to slide down backwards. I’d say he was feeling better.
He went to back to school today and was greated by all of his friends. He felt like a star. He gets to show off his cast and tell his story at circle time today. Everyone of his classmates are excited to sign his cast.
We will see how he does through out the day. I hope he can make it all day but knows if he needs us to tell the teacher to call.
He is doing a lot better than expected, now if I can just keep him from breaking anything else we will be just fine.
Thanks to evryone for their thoughts and prayers
Love you All
Emory had a bad day yesterday. He fell on the playground at school and bumped his arm...took all of 10 monutes for him to be back outside and in full swing. We did the first real bath in the tub, on his way up to the tub he fell down a couple of stairs. Just a day with a new set of feet I guess. When I took the sling off of his arm to wrap it in a plastic bag, he cried like a baby and said his sissy told him if he didn’t keep the sling on his arm would fall off. Thanks Katie, he uses his sling regularly but did we need to tell him his arm would fall off? Lol
He felt so good after the bath, we read a story and off to lala land he went. He is not on any pain medication so I guess the bumps didn’t effect him in any way.
Now come the itches!! Everyone knows (who has broken anything) that cast start to itch and smell after they have been on for a week or so. Now we are tying to get creative with the itchies- no fun for any of us. How do you expalin to a 4 year old that this is part of the process and he’ll have to put up with it. Now he has decided he doesn’t like this broken arm routine.
I will continue to keep you all posted
Love always
Took Em to the doctor yesterday, they took x-rays and said his arm is setting well. They didn’t remove his cast they took x-rays through the cast. I am very proud of how he is handeling all of this.
We go back to the Doctors on the 28th to remove the pins from his arm. That will be the day I dred. It doesn’t sound like it’s gonna be a good day that day.
Stay tooned for more to come...
