Gotta get a laptop of my own. Thanksgiving was stellar. We took the train out to Rockport and Dylan's stepdad made us turkey and stuffing and mimosas, and we finished it all off with this ABSURD chocolate cake which was sent to Dylan's mom as a present from her sister, and which also apparantly cost 75 dollars. Probably the best cake ever in the history of the world. Positively molten. Cloudy day, but I got some nice photos of the scenery.

We had to wade through this bog to get to the train station:

The next thirty-six hours or so were very epic. We woke up Friday morning in Newburyport, took the train to Boston, changed trains and walked to Chinatown with all our gear to catch the 15 dollar Fung Wah bus to NYC. The Fung Wah is fairly legendary for its sketchiness... it has been known to both tip over and break down on a regular basis. So I was pretty excited. Once we got on the bus we were informed that there was absolutely no food or drink allowed on the bus. What's more, if we were to be caught eating or drinking anything, EVEN WATER, we could be ejected ONTO THE FREEWAY. Also, at no time during the four hour trip would the bus stop for restroom or smoke breaks. Man, harsh. At least we had Gameboys. I got 149 lines on Tetris.

Upon arriving in in Manhattan, we walked to the wrong subway station before finding the train that would take us to the train that would take us to Brooklyn. Oh, the New York subway system. Got to Pete's candy store way early, had some delicious sandwiches and colas and a nice soundcheck. Finally got to meet the elusive Cake on Cake, our tourmates for the next two weeks or so. Cake on Cake is just Helena, from Sweden, but on this tour she is joined by a guy named Josh Penn, who is from New York and who runs her record label. Helena sings and plays piano and Josh sings backing vocals and plays various instruments.
Pete's Candy Store!:
The show was a bit rocky, but first shows often are. Our friends Ray (from Castanets, playing with us later on in the tour) and Angel came out, along with a pretty sizeable crowd. Afterward Angel and her boyfriend took us to a store to buy ice cream, because Tigersaw is all about ice cream, and then Dylan and I went back to sleep for five hours before getting up at 6:30am to catch the subway back to Manhattan to catch the 8am Fung Wah back to Boston so we could get to Cambridge to play a show at 1pm. This Fung Wah was TOTALLY different than the previous evil Fung Wah. It had shades and a nice Chinese driver who let us eat on the bus and have a rest stop on the way. Sleep evaded me, however, as I was sitting next to a total stranger and couldn't really get comfortable enough to crash out and drool on her shoulder.
We made it to the Cambridge venue with time to spare, time enough in fact to catch the end of the brunch specials. So I had me some eggs and a couple of Bloody Marys to hold me up straight against the utter exhaustion that was beginning to set in. We waited for what seemed like one million years to watch the first band, Daniel Striped Tiger. They were cute and super duper loud. I wore earplugs, and I NEVER wear earplugs. The merch table had some awesome grafitti on it.

The show ended around five and though Dylan and I raced to catch the train to the next venue, we missed it and ended up waiting in the station for a couple hours. The evening show was in a restaurant, and due to a serious miscommunication there was no sound system. Fortunately our friend Guy saved the day and brought us some mics and amps and a mixer from his house. What a champ. The show was what it was, we hung out with Helena and Josh and Dylan's pal Nikole and got some delicious free seafood. And then we went home and slept the sleep of the seriously...sleepy.
