Haverford College - This one was special.

Where do I start?

Perhaps I should start with our host and the man who organized the show, Rob. Awesome dude. Organizes community meals at EHouse, (which stands for Environmental house) throws down these shows at Haverford College, featuring, he's one of the most hospitable guys ever. It is rare when someone can take on a good deal of responsibility and stay relaxed and breezy, but Rob pulls it off easy.

A thought that began to germinate at the start of tour really came to fruition in Haverford. The deep and significant connection between food, music and culture. If you look at any significant culture throughout history, food, music and dance play an important part, not only in reflecting, but also the formation of cultural identity. On the music tip, It's a wonderful thing to be a mouthpiece for a progressive youth culture. I'm not much of an organizer, I'm not much of a cook (although I do cook a mean potato chip) but to be a spokesperson and entertainer for communities of these types of people is an awesome feeling.

As for the food, I never truly recognized the power of food to open people up for discussion before. It was right there in front me my entire life, and I never saw it 'till now. In fact I wonder how much of me not being an asshole in my adult life has to do with my having had good meals on the regular during childhood... Anyway, the food definitely facilitated some good conversation, and we broke it down for a while with Rob and the whole EHouse crew. During the round table discussion I had the pleasure to meet Sity A.K.A Shay from the 3XL (3 Times a Lady) crew, and we instantly hit it off. The 3XL crew is a black feminist crew whose energy and strength of statement is powerful like waves. Eroding away hate bit by bit. It was a pleasure to play with these ladies and I look forward to working on some collaborative projects with them. (You'll See)

The show itself was easily the biggest we played all tour. 250 plus, all eager to kick it with the Diesel Shark. 3XL got the people on their feet and you could tell they had worked up some local heat because people were joining in the chorus ', getting loud and excited. So by the time Diesel Shark hit the stage the crowd was ready for action. We delivered. High Points were Paulie Think's "Gangs and The Government", Homeless' "Gift Rap", and my own "Walk W/ Me - Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Brain Fuck Mix". After the set Paulie did a turntable set for the crowd who stayed pumped the entire evening. I manned the merch table, and the records flew off the shelves that night. All in all a satisfying night.

After the show we all went back to the EHouse to kick back and relax before heading to bed. Paulie and I shared a hookah with the EHouse crew. (tobacco Ma, don't sweat it.) During this intimate little fiesta Paulie broke out the harmonica and did his infamous Harmonica Beat Box while I kicked some freestyles. It was magic. We were fading fast however and soon went to crash out on the couch. Well, the floor for me, I gave Paulie the couch. He needed his beauty sleep.
