To cover most if not all questions as i'm bored and aint posted a blog in ages..
The Start:
After Sweet Seduction I played for Tom at a show in London on a days notice... learned, rehearsed and gigged it in less than 36 hours. That was a buzz and now he too was in between bands. Despite enjoying the down time, lack of stress etc etc that comes with bands.. it only seem natural to relight an old flame...
We've got all four members in place:
Tommy who i started off with many a moon ago in Silicon Baby about the age of 14 we started knocking out tunes... Nirvana and Green Day ones at that. He's ex Candy Black and Any Given Day and has a habbit of writing catchy fuckin tunes. Much like my self, he's a big Wildhearts fan, loves early Backyard Babies but we part ways when it comes to Social Disortion... I'm not a fan.
Savage who you will remember from this very myspace in it's Sweet Seduction/Wild Roses dayz. This new band, with the exception of Tom who i hadn't worked with for 5 years so it felt fresh, was suppose to be all new... that soon went down the pan when Savage (also ex Silicon Baby & Sweet Seduction and a mad obsessive of the Wildhearts long before i got in to them) came along. Also influenced by big riffs, big melodies and shit loadsa hooks, he kinda fitted the concept straight away and he loves to sing backing vox which is a plus.
Dave is a mysterious creature born in south Africa, raised in Dubai and spent uni in Glasgow... he's like the Africian stig but Tommy and without a fetish for white leather. He is a bit of wizz with the old graphix (don't mistake then for my dodgey efforts at logos, i'm sure you wont) having done artwork for the Wildhearts, Duff, Viking Skull to name but a few. Dave loves Social D but also the Wildghearts and AC/DC, so it's all good in my book. A Cherrykick or ex one, (who knows, like i said mysterious) and current member or guest member when in the UK (once again i duno) of Sorry and the Sinatras, Dave has bags of understaded ability on the 6 strings and can sing like a fucker to.
Then there's lil old me at the back on the stool..
----------------------------
The Tunes on myspace me and Tommy recorded... just the two of us tracking them before the line up was even near complete. They're a nice introduction to the band and gave us a myspace presence for trying people out resulting int the complete line up mentioned above after trying a wide range of people and err talents. The new tunes have more influence from all involved and have a different feel, there's a nice mixture of stuff but never really losing sight of the fact that we are a melody driven adrenaline fuelled punk rock n roll band but with out everything sounding the same. Little bundles of joy notching up about 3/3.30mins a piece... some that you'd may be surprised by from us and some not so like the Rock n Roll stylings of 'Wasted' which i think those who remember Silicon Baby would expect. The one currently under construction as i type is a fast lil number... proper fast, like fucking ace of spades fast.. far faster than the rest not that makes them slow and boring mind! We tend to not do slow, slow middle 8's, bridges but not over all feel altho we do have one tune thats has a picking intro and acapella vocals... like i said, some you may be surprised by!!
The name Society Crisis came from Tom and I getting really pissed and playing shit loadsa pool, it was the best name we could come up with after butching a New York Dolls song and something else and putting them together. We'll be going thru a name change, the myspace page will remain just the url will change (hopefully, i believe you can do that now)... so add us the fuck up www.myspace.com/societycrisis
Other then that we are in the process of doing said name change, writing more tunes so we can hit the road.. 3 goes into 30 10 times... thats 10 songs played back to back just for a half hour set! So bare with us, we'll flesh that our with in between song shite talking and we'll get our ass out on the circuit in the very near future
