This entire month I didn't really play much. Not even hitting and running. A little of it was limited time and another part was loss of interest. I've been playing so much for so long it has just become the same thing over and over. Don't get me wrong I love winning thousands a month but after a while, hand after hand, it's just the same old thing.
Late March I started playing a couple of 30/60 games and was doing fine until I got my ass handed to me a few times in a row with AA's, KK's and JJ's. In each hand I dominated the players but lost it on the river to some ridiculous card. And in each case the player kept raising me back with either just a bad draw or a shitty pair so I put in the maximum because I raised the fucker right back. It all happened so fast, I think I lost $2,500 in 7 minutes. The amount wasn't that much compared to my bankroll but it spun my head. It was clear I was running bad and should have taken a break for a little while. Instead I played bigger. Slowly I got even in the 30/60 game but I was losing in the bigger games.
Cut to the bust moment: I ended up stuck over 15k at my height. The game got really short and I had about 3k left in a heads up situation with who I later learned to be a kind of a poker buddy of mine. Two very important things happened against him. One, I held over him, whenever he had a hand I got nice and lucky to win the pot. Two, I was able to outplay him when he didn't have a hand. All these things got me almost even until… people started to sit down and the game filled up. Then two things happened to me. One, I didn't slow down, I kept up my betting and raising speed. Two, this other player who held over ME sat down and proceeded to beat the shit out of me every time I made a move. I dropped over 20k that night and went to sleep.
I had a couple of thousand left which I tried to rally later but couldn't get anything going. For the whole Jan-March I was still up thousands, that is until I went to Las Vegas. At the end of March I flew out to Vegas with some friends and busted threw all the rest of the profit from the last few months. The online and live account is fully busted and now I'm left with the dilemma of playing live again or depositing more money. Depositing money is now a pain in the ass so I think for now I'm just going to take a break for a while.
It's been fun and I'll report back if I end up going on another rush ... or not
