2008 Recap

2008 was a great year for "On the Verge", playing 17 shows for the past year
(over 70 in the past 3 years) and keeping our name active around the GTA
as being one of ....Toronto....'s Hardest working and Hardest Rockin' bands.
In 2008 we were trying to solidify a new drummer as well as finish some recordings and work on new songs, but we LOVE playing our LIVE shows and will always be there to CRANK IT!!!!

17/01/2008 – Silver Dollar
This was the 1st show off the year and the 1st show “On the Verge” has played at the Legendary Silver Dollar a place know for its Blues! We had Dan (from Jester) filling in on drums and Betty Moon made it out to ROCK the last few tunes of our set. Great pics by Jen and Brandon! Check out some of the pics:

30/01/2008 – Clinton’s
I remember this night being one of the coldest nights of winter on Wednesday night. We playing an awesome set that night! Little did we know this would be Bobby’s last show! R.I.P. Bobby, we miss you! You’ll always be a part of “On the Verge”!!! Here’s a pic from Bobby’s last show:

05/03/2008 – The Big Bop’s kick off CANADIAN MUSIC WEEK party @ Kathedral
We thought it would be a good idea to play this show because of Canadian Music Week but what a crazy show! LOL! We were suppost to go on 1st. Neil (from Camel Joe) was going to be filling in on drums for us! We get all set up on stage ready to play but no Neil. We then just got the call that Neil couldn’t make it because he just blew his Transmission (FUCK)! After Betty Moon did some sweet talking with the promoter and got us a later time slot. Now all we needed was a drummer. I called every drummer I knew with no luck. It looked like we weren’t going to get to play that night and I HATE to cancel shows, but Betty Moon pulled it off! She got her buddy Kimio to play the show and he KICKED ASS!!! Little did we know Kimio would play a few shows with us in the future. We ROCKED the set and even Tommy (Blind Race & Tripchord) came up and did some guest vocals with us on stage!!! Great show!

29/03/2008 -  Holy Joe’s
Our next show we got to play with our buddies Social Cyanide! We had Dan (from Jester) filling in on drums and it was a traffic jammed, rainy night in the city! We just got to the venue right before our set and we’re being rushed on stage! After delaying for our routine pre-set JOINT session we’re getting bugged to go on stage and that it’s cutting into our set time. We go up, start our set, and after one song they tell us “LAST SONG”! Me being pissed off that we’re only getting a 2 song set, I decided to pull out the longest song we have THE EPIC (it’s a Jester tune over 10mins long). We even extended it to the point where they cut us off even before we got to the end of the song!!! HE HE HE! LOL! Here’s some you tube footage! Thanks Mario:

11/04/2008 – Rink Ratz Bar & Grill
I thought it would be a good idea to play a show at the Bar in the Ice Rink but it wasn’t. We ROCKED a great set with Betty Moon singing and Kimio on drums.

20/04/2008 – SICK ASS 4:20 BASH @ El Mocambo
This was the 4:20 celebration for all the STONER ROCK bands in ....Toronto....! There were 2 floors and 2 stages of continuous STONER ROCK! We came in late again and got cut to a 2 song set again for the second show in a row. We had no singer and no bass (Betty Moon was suppost to show up to sing and bring the bass for Des) so Des had to play my back-up guitar for the set, but we made it through and got a good review of our set aswell.
Here’s our review:

25/04/2008 – The Central
This was a fun night! We got to play a set with my good buddies and favourite band to see in ....Toronto.... “Tripping Hazard”. It was a night of STONER ROCK and we CRANKED IT!!! We got a write-up on our set by www.toohightogetitright.com the local STONER ROCK website. No Betty Moon singing for us tonight but we had Kimio ROCKIN the drums!!!
Here’s our review: http://www.toohightogetitright.com/reviews/concerts/april25.html

13/06/2008 – Opera House
What a CRAP night! First of all NEVER BOOK A SHOW WITH HOTBOXX MUSIC OR DANTE (What a PRICK)!!! We get to the show only to find out that Dante cut us off the bill. Even with Betty Moon knowing the owner of the Opera House it didn’t get us on stage that night and it PISSED me off because we had a buch of people show up for us that night and we never got to play! FUCK YOU DANTE!!! YOU SUCK!!!!

07/19/2008 - MOONSPLASH
This was a KICK ASS PARTY at Betty Moon’s house. We PARTYED, we JAMMED, we got STONED AS FUCK!!!! There were belly dancers, models skinny dipping in the pool, drink service and the cocaine fell down like sand, it was like a ROCKSTARS PARTY! We had a BLAST! Enough said!

08/02/2008 – Bolton/Caledon Music Festival
After not playing for a bit (we were recording and working with a new drummer) we got to play at the Bolton Fairgounds and ROCKED the crowd with Betty Moon and our new drummer Lyle. Our TRIPPY projections looked cool on the big open wall. Thanks to ....Brandon.... for the great footage of our set.

08/09/2008 – 2008 Cruise for Kids
This is our charity show we play every year. This was the last Cruise for Kids and the
Southern Cruisers Riders Club raised around $9,000 that will go to help the "GRIEVING CHILDREN AT SEASONS CENTRE". We had no Betty Moon but Lyle was ROCKIN’ the drums and it was Jen’s 1st time playing guitar with us! Thanks Jen, you ROCKED on guitar!!!

08/16/2008 – HARKERFEST 2008
What a PARTY of a night! Lyle couldn’t play the show so we got Sean to fill in on drums (and what a disaster)! We packed up the STONER ROCK VAN with people had a great party of a night eating SHROOMS with JOINT after JOINT till the sun came up ! Our set was a bit shaky with our fill in drummer getting way too DRUNK (I think he was a beat behind us the whole set) but we managed to make it through and CRANKED IT!!! Thanks for coming out for the road trip Erik & Danika!!! Too bad this was the last Harkerfest!!!

09/8/2008 – Smiling Buddha!!!!!
After not being able to get a hold of Lyle right away to confirm the show I thought it would be a good idea to give Sean another chance to ROCK a show on drums seeing as he got too DRUNK last time. It wasn’t, and we struggled through the set. We made it trough but next time we’re getting Lyle to play!!! LOL!

10/16/2008 – Dave’s B’day BASH @ Duffy’e Tavern
It was my B’day show and what a great show it was!!! It got to hand pick all my favourite bands to be on the bill and everyone showed up to make me feel special on my b’day! I got STONED AS FUCK thanks to Scott’s tasty SHROOM & WEED COOKIES!!!! YA! Lyle was back on drums for us but we had Kimio and Sean show up to jam a few tunes with me for my B’day. Here’s some pics:

10/30/2008 – DEVIL’S NIGHT HALLOWEEN BASH @ Silver Dollar
This was “On the Verge’s” 5th Anniversary of playing shows!!! “On the Verge’s” 1st show was on Halloween 2004 and we’ve played every Halloween since. It was a great show playing with SUN OF SABBATH (Black Sabbath cover band), they even all dressed up like the members of Black Sabbath for Halloween! We ROCKED our set and there’s another year of playing shows in the tank for “On the Verge”. We’ll be ROCKIN’ a show near you SOON!!!! Review of the show: http://www.toohightogetitright.com/reviews/concerts/oct30.html
Thanks VIVA for the Pic: http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewTaggedPhoto&friendID=28368265&imageUserID=79535549&imageID=36369751

11/6/2008 – Des’s B’day BASH!!! @ Reveb
This was a ROCKIN’ show!!! Betty Moon came out to sing and we had Lyle playing drums. We played a KICK ASS set with great sound. The Reveb is one of my favourite stages in the city to play because of the GREAT SOUND!!!

11/25/2008 – Lyle’s B’day BASH!!!! @ Mitzi’s Sister
Another B’day show for us. We had a good turn-out that night and I got to hand pick the other bands on the bill with Witchever and The Dank playing great sets. Lyle’s brother showed up and Lyle got to jam with him for his B’day. What a KICK ASS guitar player Lyle’s brother was!!! Jen took some awesome pics: http://www.flickr.com/photos/blackxwhitexpixie/sets/72157605065177249/?page=3

12/11/2008 – Bugsy & Lynette’s B’day BASH @ Kathedral
This was our last show of 2008 and usually we do a Christmas Charity Canned Food Drive, but for some reason I couldn’t get it together this year with everyones tight schedules. We CRANKED IT UP! STONED AS FUCK and had a great PARTY and got a great LIVE recording of the set!!!! See you all next year!!!

That's it. Your re-cap of 2008!!!!!!
Thanks to everyone who supported us and came out to the shows in 08.
You can expect to see more of "On the Verge" CRANKED UP! STONED AS FUCK in 2009.

Thanks
Dave, Des, Lyle & Betty Moon - On the Verge

P.S. CERTIFIED STONEDIFIED!!!!!!!!!!!
