Current mood: catalyzed
In the so called worst depression since the last, I wish the media would take their little green frog pills(Terry Pratchetts Discworld). And just calm down and give us the hard facts, there are enough gory and nasty stories out there with out having to embelish, to be quite honest the down point of the cycle. Any hoo, iTunes app Store passed the 1 Billion mark for downloaded apps last night (24.04.09) at approximately 20:45 GMT 22:45 CET. (Sommertime clocks moving, does mess things up a little.) Amazing to think that all those little programmes for the iPhone and iPod Touch got past the 1 Billion mark, and as I had nothing much else to do I followed the counter in the iTunes store, the last 25,000 apps went in less than a minute, if the Big three car makers could do the same that would be a Major miracle (Though I doubt they would sell a Ford Ka for 99 cents). But all the same, the first billion has been reached, I wonder how long it will take to reach the second, probibly two thirds of the time it took to reach one. Nine months, so just like producing a baby (presumibly Human) the iTunes app store crossed the billion line months after launch. Thanks to the developers who in thier endevors make the whole thing fun, and continue doing what you do, well with the probible execption of the iFart and baby shaking type apps. Continue with the inovation, and remember it does not have to be a complicated app just good, like the ones from iVerse media, they are individual comics, and generally the first issue is free, they read nice and easy, and pages actually turn if you wish. In this department I have tried out many others, Genus Corp, made the whole reading experience complicated, you had too zoom in to read the dialogue, and as you tried to read the botom left part of the page the comic turned the page before you were fininshed, ok with a flick of the wrist you could turn the page, but it is just a toy in a app that has no real good function. iHandy level is a good simple app as an example, it is a level, you know the rulers with a green glass thing with a bubble in it to let you know how straight and level an object is. Like I said not comlicated but just good. Another example is the BMI calculator, for those who actually want to know what thier body mass index is, or work it out for friends. So here's to the next billion apps.
