Green Valley.. North Liverpool Road.
We were renting a place on a main road. Our swing set was on the front lawn because we had a huge front lawn and practically no backyard. The landlord (Joe) lived two houses down and his daughter (Nala) lived next door to us with her family. She had one girl when we moved in. Catalina. She was a year younger than me but was always my height. I once borrowed one of her dresses for a family photo shoot we did when I was 5. I hated it. Later on Nala had a little boy named Pedro, then another who's name escapes me.
I'm not too sure why, but after a couple of years we moved. To the house directly next door. mhm.
Joe's grandkids used to use our swings without asking and when I approached them and told them it was rude and that they should ask, they used to reply "it's our land, our swings". The little jerks got a smack in the face once. Plus I banned them from using my go-kart. :)
I did however have a crush on Pepino (yes their whole family was Italian). and no matter how many times he made me graze my knee or get in trouble - I still thought he was great.
I remember I wanted to build a cubby house in our non existent backyard. I sat in my room and laid out pieces of paper on my Donald Duck bed spread and drew out the blue prints. I even chose the kind of wood I would use - down to what curtains I wanted to put up. I wanted a place where I could do art. Where I could be by myself and mess around with clay, paint and texta's and nobody would bother me. I guess I lost interest when dad told me how much it would cost.
All I had in my room was a big white wardrobe, an old sewing machine(don't ask) and a cd player. And I was so happy with that. I didn't mind not having a big room. It was a perfect size for me to sit at my desk and draw or write stories while listening to music. My room was right next to the kitchen. In fact, my room opened up into the kitchen. It was a great kitchen too. Very homey and earthy.
My brother (Julian) had a bigger room and for some reason he had bunk beds in there. Just in case he felt like sleeping closer to the ceiling? I don't know. He also had the good ol' Windows 95 computer in his room. We used to play Duke Nukem. Scratch that. I used to play Duke Nukem. Julz was too piss weak to kill the monsters. When I wasn't killing monsters on the computer, I was using Microsoft Paint to draw little characters that I would later include in my stories.
I once had a tutor. He was actually quite large and every time he came over he would stuff his face with cookies. I could hear his heavy breathing. It was gross. Would've been good if he had taught me something educational once in a while. That is, other than how to look like a complete grot while eating.
Ahhh. That was the life. Not a worry in the world. My biggest worry? was not finishing my tutor homework and instead watching Rocko's Modern Life. Or maybe, MAYBE.. it could've been how ridiculous I thought I looked in knickerbockers every Friday morning for softball.
Not like now.
who's up for some time traveling? I might give Catalina back her dress...
