GREETINGS !

That's Right Scenesters,

REVLON RED

Has Been Awarded The

2008 ROCK CITY NEWS AWARDS

"Best Songwriting" AND "Best Glam Band" Awards !

The band was honored to win the "Best Glam Band" Award, and also thought it was particularly fantastic to know that so many of you appreciate their songs and songwriting skills to have hence had you vote for them to also win in the "Best Songwriting" category this past year as well. They also felt it was nice to have won in the songwriting category for a change after having already previously won the "Best Glam Band" Award before, as well as having once won the "Best Hollywood Band" Award and vocalist and frontman Marky DeSade having personally won the "Best Frontman" Award in the past years.

Marky DeSade was also honored to have personally accepted the 2008 ROCK CITY NEWS "Lifetime Achievement - Best Drummer" Award on behalf of one of his closest friends Mr. Traci Michaelz and to be able to deliver what was a beautiful heartfelt speech about him. As many of you know Traci passed away this past year while on tour with his band the Peppermint Creeps, the band that Marky helped him form many years ago in which he was the original lead singer. Also there on stage to accept the Award with Marky on Traci's behalf were Nancy Perrier, another longtime friend of Traci's whom recited a wonderful short poem about him, and the Peppermint Creeps stage manager and Traci's personal drum tech and close friend Alan Alves who also spoke some wonderful words about Traci as well. Marky and all of those that were there were really grateful and proud to see Traci receive this award here at the end of what was a rather tragic year because of his loss, as we're sure all of us are, and this was a really nice and appropriate award for Traci to have received considering his lifetime of continued dedication to excellence in the field of drumming, songwriting and live stage performance. Being the final major event of the year in the local Hollywood rock 'n' roll scene this was also a great and appropriate way to end it as well, and in doing so all of those in attendance were able to say their final goodbyes one last time to a man that was a shining star in the Hollywood music scene, whom had nationwide and international recognition, and whom had touched the lives of many, many countless people. Marky will be personally taking on the responsibility of seeing that Traci's mother and both of Traci's daughters that he is survived by receive the original and consequent duplicates of the Award to honor their beloved son and father with and to have to proudly display in their homes.

Revlon Red also performed at the RCN Awards show this year for the first time in many years, and they were booked as one of the main acts of the night, taking the stage just after 11pm... and taking the crowd by storm! After a night of the audience watching many of the opening bands play under somewhat obtrusive bright stage lighting and with little or no stage show accoutrements the lights were dimmed, the stage was fogged up, and up went their banner with their neon blacklight logo on it... and then the band treated the crowd to a strobe-lit powerhouse performance, literally knocking their socks off and dropping their jaws (and knees) to the floor!!! Wanting to keep things fun and lighthearted they chose to play a short and sweet yet dark-themed four song set largely consisiting of some of their favorite cover tunes in order to stay consistent with maintaining a "party" atmosphere, as opposed to self-indulging themselves by playing all original songs. They opened with an excellent cover of "Partytime" by 45 Grave (from the "Return of the Living Dead" motion picture soundtrack), leading straight in to their ever-popular original song "Hollywood" (which was released in stores worldwide this year on the Glamnation Vol. 4 Compilation CD, on Marky's birthday no less...) and the crowd went nuts !!!

Then they announced that they were going to play a song written by Traci Michaelz, that song being the dark and heavy glam-metal goth crossover theme song from his old band Glamvestite Vampirez, which was the band that Traci was in just prior to the Peppermint Creeps and in which Marky was the backup singer... and the crowd lost their minds both before and after the tune! They then closed out their set with a truly magnificent rendition of "Romeo's Distress" by Christian Death, the famous deathrock band that Traci once played drums in for a short stint, and that Marky also once sang for at a show in the '80's at the notorious Scream Club one night where he substituted for Rozz Williams who was too ill to perform that evening. The crowd went absolutely ballisitic and then largely cleared the place because it was obvious by their over-the-top performance that they were not a band that could be easily followed!!! This show was by far the band's best show of the year, and hence was quite a triumphant show for them to close the year out with....

On that note the band has conveyed that they really had a blast and would like to thank all that attended and also the soundman for really "dialing in" their sound throughout their set and for taking good care of the other bands as well throughout the evening, and they would also like to personally thank all of you that voted for them and that have supported them in the past.....

For they couldn't do all that they do if it wasn't for your loyal support and encouragement...........................................

Remember - You Make the Scene, and You Rock !!!
