Hey guys, Mike here. I said that I would do a follow up on that Jonas Bros meeting, so here it is.
It was a really great night. Damone's old tour manager, Misty, has been out with those boys on their last two tours. When she told them that she used to work with us, they were apparently pretty psyched, and asked her if she could set up a meeting in Boston. So in a way that only Misty could, she put the whole thing together for us.
SO nice to hang out with Misty again too. Good times 4 sure.
The Jonas kids appeared tired to me. They may be one of the hardest working bands I've ever met. The marketing genius behind it all completely blew my mind too, but all of that $tuff is a whole other story.
Mrs Jonas seemed really sweet, and Misty had nothing but nice things to say about working on the tour and the Jonas family in general.
A couple things did catch me off guard though. The first was when one of boys started talking about seeing us live on tour a fews back. They didn't see us with the Rejects, or at some radio festival... they saw us in this slummy NJ rock club with Bullets and Octane, and Valient Thorr (who they apparently like a lot too).
Now, Valient kicks some serious ass, but they're really not a band I expected those kids to be into. Plus they must've been super young to be hanging out in a place like that. I know I wouldnt've been allowed in there back then. (I'm still not allowed. *crying in the corner*)
Damn we had some wild fun days on that tour. - Valient Thorr.
The second thing was the show itself.
They were nice enough to give us front row seats, and seemed excited for us to catch their live show. Initially, the only thing I could focus on was the deafening sounds of 70+ thousand screaming girls, and like an old man I basically I just wanted to go home... or cash in those sweeeet tickets for (god only knows how much $) to some poor parent outside who's simply desperate to get their little Sussi-pants into the concert. BUT, obviously that would be a rude and ungrateful gesture to these seemingly super nice people.
(Besides, if those seats were empty, it would look pretty damn conspicuous)
Yeah, I know. Most 14yr old girls can only dream.
As it turns out, it was one of the best concerts I've ever been to.
The excitement of all those kids can't be faked, and it reminded me of how I felt about my favorite bands back in the day. The performances, the stage show, the outfits... I mean everything was pure entertainment. At one point they actually made it rain on stage! It was like a full on Vegas production. Unbelievable.
I'm told that this was Jordin Sparkks or something like that
I hate to say this (and it's sure to piss a few people off) but I was lucky enough to see Metallica with my buddy Len a few months back, in the same place, with seats almost as good as these were. The Jonas show blew them clear out of the water. And I love Metallica, but these days they're just not that exciting. Like my bedroom doorknob.
Totally off the subject, I don't think that I would get along too well with Lars Ulrich. And I hated that movie Some Kind Of Monster. (prolly cause it hits too close to home) And it was like getting to see Superman in his home argue with his wife. Some things you just don't wanna know about. But at one point in the film, Lars is talking about Hetfield's mellowing-out and says something like, "20 years of hatred. It sold us millions of records... and NOW look at him!" -Hahahaha. That was awesome.
Don't get me wrong. I'm all in favor growing up a little by the time you're like 50, because nothing's sadder than some rocker who's acting as rebellious as he did at 21... but, none-the-less... what happened to metal?
No but... seriously... what the hell happened?
Alright then. That's that. I'm done.
There's other things to talk about too, but I'm too lazy to get into it right now.
I'm sorry. I just can't help it. James? Really?
You went from "this" to an "Armani Collezioni" bag?
This is absolutely heartbreaking for me. I feel like killing myself right now. Like, everything in life is fraud.
I mean... it's just too much to handle
And on that note I will leave you with a Metallica lyric that suddenly makes more sense than ever, as if they were predicting the future.
"Yesterday seems as though It never existed Death greets me warm Now I will just say goodbye"
