It was good to have band practice after a month without playing. My shoulder is on the mend. Just the fact that I couldn't play for so long made me enjoy it even more when I finally started picking again. I think I'd go nuts if my injury lasted any longer. I'm now exploring many different styles on the banjo. The only problem is finding the time after putting in a full day.

I know it's been a while since posting this blog but in reading your page and listening to your band's tunes. I sure hope your shoulder feels better. Also if there is anything you would like to chat about in our "banjo world" feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,
Jon Eric

Hey Jon Eric,
You are kind to respond to this blog. I hurt my shoulder moving a heavy table at work and am still going to physical therapy. It's easier to play my electric banjo now. I use a slider strap and it's lighter than my Gibson RB3. That one weighs a ton, even more than my RB250. The RB3 has the best tone and it's the one I have used playing out with this band. I use the electric if I am playing with a drummer and electric bass player. We used to have a drummer in this band but some of the snotty Bluegrass Festivals didn't approve! I also sometimes play in a blues/rock band with a Gibson ES335. Can you tell I'm into Gibson? My dog is even named Gibson.
Nice Nechville! I looked into getting one of those but after buying the RB3 I couldn't afford one. I like your banjo break in Jerusalem Ridge. How do you play? By ear? Tab? Teacher? Do you ever use .tef files?

The Jerusalem Ridge cut is my own break.
I fashioned it after hearing Tony Rice's version
(the only cut I had), but it did not have a banjo
break on it.

I mostly play by ear... VERY little tab.
Though tab is good for hearing how another version can go.

Absolutely nothing wrong with Gibson!
Most that I have played from pre-wars to the blackjack are all solid!

All those banjos and so little time!

PROTECT THOSE HANDS!

Sincerely,
Jon Eric
