The Center for Contemporary Dance (www.TheCenterForDance.org) is auditioning children ages 2-9 for its April 2009 production of The Velveteen Rabbit, a classic children’s story that will be brought to life through dance.  Designed specifically to showcase young dancers, The Velveteen Rabbit is an opportunity for children to gain professional training and performance experience in the dance arts.

Dancers of all levels (including beginners) are encouraged to participate in this arts-education project.  Selected dancers will be placed into The Center’s Creative Movement Academy, where they will study with industry professionals to learn choreography and essential technical skills that prepare them for the stage.  Standard and reasonable tuition and costume fees apply.

Auditions will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2009 and Sunday, January 4, 2009 at 1pm at The Center for Contemporary Dance, located at 3580 Aloma Avenue #7 in Winter Park, FL  32792.   Candidates will learn a short piece of choreography to assess skill level so they may be appropriately placed for further training.  Dancers should wear all black attire comfortable for movement; the audition is conducted barefoot.
