Current mood:  blessed
I remember when an intern at the Ed and Mo (Ed Lover and Monie Love)in the morning on pwer 1051,was also interning at VH1 and came to work one morning asking our advice on an idea she and a group of other interns were presenting to programming. It was the beginings of what we now know as Hip Hop Honors.A heart warming event that doesn't have an award per say,but pays tribute and honor for one night of classic nostalgia set to the background of hip hop.I've attended this affair twice, once in 05 and again this year. The first year I attended as talent and this year wanting to grab some red carpet interviews for my respective radio shows I attended as radio journalist. Both times witnessing several hip hop greats not being admitted, and being spoken to and treated rather disrespectfully from whom looked to be VH1 employees, according to their credentials. It's sad really when you think about it that how could you have an event you can gather will attract many classic artists that may not be getting honored that particular evening, and mistreat them upon entrance. Is the event only open to classic hip hop artists being honored at that moment, and the rest don't mean anything? If that be the case then that would mean the entire honors is a sham and on the real the network couldn't careless.I battle with that theory everyday since thursday last week after watching Scarface standing outside not being re-admitted for lack of laminate pass.I really enjoyed ,however, the honors providing a meeting place for the most ultimate high school re-union known to music.Shout to my classmates of Hip Hop High,I honor you all every day!!!!!!!
