We had a great holiday weekend at the Bharmacy.
Friday night we hosted a great little band from Austin called Trio del Rio. They had this really cool jazz/folk sound and brought their daughter along to add to the great vibe. We really enjoyed having them and would love to have them back but the following day they embarked on a New England summer tour so I am not sure when they will be back this way again. Whenever - we would love to hear more Trio del Rio.
Saturday kicked off July 4th festivities with Buddy Lee. Buddy is a disabled Marine vet from the Iraqui war. His rifle malfunctioned and exploded in his face a few years ago. While he is no longer able to serve our country as a Marine, he travels the country to promote awareness of disabled veteran issues. I can't tell you how fortunate we were to have him and his friends play for us for Independence day. their Texas and classic country style really set the stage for our celebration of the American way of life.
We had free food and domestic beer on special and the party went on until closing time.
Buddy is promoting an organization called Voices of a Grateful Nation. They have a CD with many talented nationally known artists and the proceeds of their sales go to the Welcome Home Project. This project provides welcome home cards for veterans returning to the United States from war zones.
The Welcome Home
Project in conjunction with The Kerrville Folk Festival and Cheatham
Street Warehouse.
Additionally VGN is going to attempt a new Guinness World Record for the Biggest Guitar
