Oh man...I hope you don't sell out of the hardcover book and sketchbook! Gotta get my hands on those.
I'd inquire about sketches, but I'm sure I couldn't afford them! :)
See you at the con!

thanks for the hardcover. it was a pleasure chatting for the brief time that we did. cant wait til this time next year when your kick ass version of spidey hits the shelves! I must say hunting down those gen 13 mini-series books you signed for me were tough to track down. but thanks. when did you start doing your own layouts? was there a specific issue or page that stands out in your mind?

JSC-
The Art of book, and sketchbook are awesome! Great seeing so much of the Hogan commercial project, and I always love peering into your genus design sense with prelim layouts of your covers.
Your interpretation of characters in the sketch book is always a treat. Invisible girl and Red Sonja are among my favorites. The first page pencil sketch of Spidey fooled me. The book is printed at such a high quality I thought my buddy got you to draw that on there for me!

still think it was kinda messed up you said you would do a peice for me at sdcc and you kept giving me the run around and told me I have to wait now till next year even though in Feb you said you'd do at SD.

Now careful you may get "brain freeze".

i understand that he's busy and stuff, but start out say hey im sorry I cant do this, and not having me back back later and day after day, and keep tellign me no, and then resort to putting up a ntoe sayign no sketches, as opposed to being truthful. I was there wed-sun and went back to his table 2-3 times a day and kept gettign the run around, then get told to wait a whole year till he can do it. So here's hoping he will keep his word and do it at wondercon this year.

Not to speak for JSC, but he is a nice guy and likely just has a hard time being harsh to a fan face to face with a straight out no. Sure he should have his time more structured to avoid confusion, but consider your putting him on the spot a bit. There is only so much time in the day. Maybe just get a sketch book signed say hi and give up the notion of getting a sketch.
If you can't deal with that concept, bring the cutest little niece or nephew you can muster and have him ask for a sketch with big doe eyes.
Just face it, the goatee isn't working.
He's just not that into you ;)

wow you got me there, Im go shave now. If you dont want to speak for him then dont. You dont even know the situation or what the details of the situation are.
So here goes:
I talked to JSC thru myspace a year ago before wondercon, I asked him how he goes about doing commision peices at cons. He said he gives out tixs everyday and thats pretty much how you get one and that they were $100 each.
So yeah I wasnt asking for a just a little quick sketch, I was going to pay him to do it.
So everyday of the con I ran to his table with my gf and friends trying to get a tix, but wasnt able too. Sunday half way thru the con I went back to buy some prints from him and asked him if I could pay him and give him my info and he could ship it to me. He said that he doesnt like doing that cuz things might happen he might forget and stuff, I understood and said it was ok. So then I asked him if I could get an IOU for SDCC, he asked if I was going and I said i go every year, he proceeded to get a tix and give it to me. He told me to go to him at sdcc with the tix and that he would definatly do the sketch for me then.
so everyday at sdcc I went to his table a few times a day to get the sketch, I got everything from come back later/ tomorrow, to one day just a sign saying no sketches and him pointing towards it. I even offered to give him my info and payment on Thurs and pick it up on Sun. No go, like I said he could have just said off the bat sorry I cant/wont be doing sketches this con and I would have understood and worked something else out with him.
Oh and just for you know, despitse all that I still bought both sketchbooks and print from him at sdcc (I asked for a discount, cuz of what happened and he said no, but its cool I was gettign them anyways.) At the end he tells me to wait a whole year till wondercon 09 to get the sketch, so here we are now, week before the con and hopefuly he'll be able to do it now.
So now you know the story (not like it matters, Im sure you will continue the over protective bf role).

Damn, it sounds like you got screwed over big time, and if I were you I would've said the hell with it, but of course there are "two sides" to every story JSC should clear this up. Not one of his fans. No offense to you Jeff.

OK, ok keep the goatee.
I realize you put in some effort to get your sketch, and can understand your disappointment . But with any artist just because you wave a c-note in front of him doesn't mean he has to dance like a monkey. It's not like when you go to the store and buy something off the shelf. An artist has the right to draw at his own discretion . That last weekend you saw him, he maybe just was creatively spent. At least he didn't just spit out some crap and take your money.
I am sure your a super good guy, but if you buy a guys sketch book doesn't mean he owes you something. These top guys don't need the money, I think sketches are more a courtesy to fans.
I am just trying to inject some perspective here.
Over protective bf you say? Well the guys skills have made me a better artist, so I am thankful his stuff is out there in such a public medium. You sir seem more like the woman scorned, lol just kidding!! I hope you get a sketch the next time, try to be more endearing. Maybe let your wife do the talking.

wow and you're still at it huh............oh well. i know cuz I bought those things or that I have money, means he owes me anything. I dont need your perspective..nor asked for it.
a) you werent there, you dotn know the situation
b) I can understand the circumstances and dont need to be told by you
I was very respectful and everythign all the tiems I saw him and talked to him, and Im sure thats one of the reasons that he prob gave me the tix for sdcc to begin with.
My beef was that he could have just been up fornt and said he couldnt do it, and not giving me the run around.
We all felt that, like I said I was with a group of like 5-7 people everytime so this isnt just one "fans" ego trip about being screwd or a fan that thinks they need to stand up for someone when they are not even involved.
I know what it is to be an artist ( I can throw that at you too) and I know all about the ups and downs. Like I said all this is aobut is just sayign he could have been up front with everything.
with that I leave you to continue with your brown nosing

If you complain or encroach on smearing on a public forum, your inviting others to comment. Send a private message next time.
I was just trying to help you out. Like when a child is throwing a tantrum an adult needs to give him gentle guidance.
Ya know, lets just blame this all on the evil goatee.

Trying to help me out? How do you think you are helping anybody out? Your just taking the superhero role and hoping itl win you some brownie points.
I think its hilarious that you consider what I did a tantrum. You must not have any kids or let around any.
Yes I said my case in a public fourm and yes its open to commenting. Thats fine, and I have no problem, the thing is you made it personal, you want to discuss then stick to the topic. Slinging around insults and taking to a personal level has nothing to do with anything that I said, just show what a douch you are that you have to result to insults and just cant have a conversation.
You guys may have the same name but thats about where the similarities end, so do yourself a favor and stand up wipe the junk off your nose and quit while you're ahead.
And for your info I have talked to him about, afterwards, so dont worry about it.
